I had a weird dream where old Chuchu inherited Grandpa Flit's racism and became a double mega racist. Here's my artistic rendition about it + her MS

I had a weird dream last night. Don't quite remember any details, but I do remember that I saw Elderly Chuchu becoming racist and becoming more and more like old Flit.

I also tried drawing her Demi Trainer in a Full Glansa armor.

Which Mobile Suit has the best sub-arm position tactically?

Getting overwhelmed by enemies, or having your weapon in hard to reach spot? Sounds like you need "a hand"!

Sub-arms are a feature that can be found in some mobile suits in UC or AU. It's basically a secondary limb, usually an arm manipulator, that act as your third arm. Most mobile suits have them on the backpack, front skirt, knee, or some other places.

It makes me wonder: Which spot to put the sub-arms is the most advantageous tactically?

I personally think that backpack is the most reasonable spot to put your sub arms since one, it can grab the harder to reach weapon storage on the back, and two, when equipped with shield, you can protect your back and front.

Though, I have a soft spot for front-facing sub arms because they look cool.

What do you guys think?

How strong is a beam vulcan?

It's pretty easy to tell how strong a head vulcan is by looking at the caliber. Most mobile suits has a 60mm head vulcans with some exceptions (Victory only has 25mm head mounted guns due to how small the form factor is).

But how can you tell the strength of a beam vulcan?
Is it stronger than its ballistic counterpart?
Or is it even stronger than a low powered beam weapon like GM's spray gun?
Is there any reason to use regular vulcan over the beam one?

imo, the main selling point of a beam vulcan is how they have practically unlimited ammo compared to regular vulcans since beam vulcans are seemingly powered directly by the mobile suit's generator. As long as you still have juice in your machine, you can still fire your beam vulcan in the most dire situation.

You can see them here and there in UC, but they're prominently found in AGE, G-reco, and 00 suits.

What do you guys think?
Do you think beam vulcans are stronger than regular head mounted vulcans?
Does your favorite mobile suit use them?

Diva Appreciation Post

Just re-watched Gundam AGE, and I ended up appreciating Diva more.

  1. She serves the longest among Gundam's main ships at a record breaking 49 years.
  2. She's a home for 3 generations of Gundam pilots.
  3. She has a cool and elaborate 3D printer that can evolve itself using Gundam's battle data.
  4. She's a fricking transformable ship that has a cruise mode and battle mode.
  5. She has some memorable ship crews and captain.

I think she's a good re-interpretation of the white base / albion, and she felt like actual home instead of just a mere warship. The generational nature of Gundam Age as a series made her work well as the main ship.

Why don't Funnel Shields be utilized more often?

Theoretically, it's a great defense mechanism
You have remote controlled shields that you can control with your mind, meaning:

  1. Your MS hands are both free and independent.
  2. You have a 360 degree range of movement on your shields protecting you from any angle.
  3. You can control more than one bit / funnels, therefore more than one shield. Which is definitely an advantage compared to regular arm shield.
  4. And when you're done protecting yourself, you can use them as projectile for offensive mechanism.

The only disadvantage that I could think of is that it needed a Newtype pilot who also has a good spatial awareness to control the bits. But I feel like you could mitigate this issue by making the shield wired using INCOM or other quasi-psycommu systems.

And yet, only a handful of Mobile suits utilized this concept.
We saw them on Moon Gundam and Unicorn in Universal Century, but past that, especially in late UC (F90 / crossbone onwards), most mobile suits are already adopting beam shield before it could spread more widely.

Outside UC, I could only think Cherudim and Zabanya who also has shield bits.

What do you guys think?
