NEW: you can put PICTURES in comments

We've received a few suggestions about allowing media in comments. So, new this week: r/Wastewater allows pics in comments, with a few guidelines.

- please keep it on topic. A) Answering a question by commenting a picture of how something works at your plant: perfect. B) A tongue-in-cheek image that's somewhat on topic with the post, sure. C) Random jokes, a picture promoting your project... those are spam and subject to our sub's Rule 3. D) r/Wastewater Mod Team and platform admins reserve right to discretion on the above.

- GIFs and videos are currently not allowed, to avoid clogging the feed.

Shark play

I haven’t whittled in maybe 25-30 years but this buggy piece of cedar inspired me. Might get into this hobby a little more. I enjoyed the aroma as much as the knifework.

Front main seal on a 4.3L

My ‘88 with a 4.3L looks like it needs a new front main. Wifey says let a mechanic do it.

Can you give me (for my wife) a ballpark of what the cost could be?

Rules-->Insights--> flair

I notice the rules insights don't show flair the user applied before or after the guidance message, the insights summary only shows the post's title and body, is there work toward showing flair in those insights?

Multiple of my rules (r/Wastewater) that I have auto-enforced are about flair.

Multiple Photos now allowed on posts

TLDR: when posting, you should be able to add multiple pics to the post.

Good morning to one of the best subs on Reddit!

Lots of you have asked about us allowing more media on posts; whereas, since before I was even a sub member the only media allowed has been 1 image. I’ve been letting that ride a while, and looking at what new features are valuable and how easy they would be for our mod team to moderate. Looks like allowing “galleries” (multiple photos in the original post) is a good fit for us.

Still no media in the comments (including images, videos, GIFs). You should be able to include in your comment a link to outside storage like IMGUR, though, if you feel the need.

Any comments or suggestions are always welcome! Feel free to comment here or message the mods.

Pros and cons of allowing galleries and videos

I co-mod a career-oriented sub, users often comment “sorry I was only able to post one picture, or “wish I was able to post a video, or “wish I could post a picture in the comments. I inherited the sub a year ago with media settings allowing only one image per post and no media in comments.

So I’m considering opening up one or more of those features. Are there drawbacks?
- possibility of slowing down the loading of our sub’s feed?
- possibility of doxxing or other ill content in the media, I’ve thought of.
- other considerations that make these media types tough to moderate.

VFD knobs are tiny

Adjusting VFD 3 to 5 percent at a time via a 1/2”-radius knob is a precision exercise. I need a modification to make it about a 2” maybe 3” radius. Anyone fabbed something like that?

What is a “User report”

I got a report in my mod queue, (Screenshot in comments ) the flag on the content (comment in this case) says “user report”. I’m not sure what that means, and the comment is fine in context, and the user doesn’t have any wild content showing on his profile. If it were you would you investigate more, or just ignore reports and approve?

Posts about CAREERS

Please note your mod team is trying something new in regard to POSTS about CAREERS. See Rule 4, as well as a couple other rule changes that will

Newbies, here's the thing: Our work quite often involves studying and researching in order to find the right information, method, regulations, etc. I love seeing new people but I have to be real at the same time. Put in the effort, do some research, narrow down your question, join existing conversations about that question.

We love talking about our career field. This sub has been a source of help for lots of folks just getting started as operators or even just considering a poopy job.

Quite a few suggestions have to the mod team or been posted; we've tried an auto-enforcement of rule 4, and yet there have still been lots of FAQ inquiries posted as brand new content. And it clogs up the sub at times. I get it, sometimes we have questions about the details.

Thus, we respectfully ask: that users would utilize the search bar and/or flair filters to find in our sub the topic they're looking for (remember you can also filter away from career flaired content if you don't want to see it), then comment on the content of your choice; and regarding questions about CAREERS--whether "getting started" or "already in the field", if the user feels a new post is needed to clarify a particular question, go for it ON SATURDAY.

How deep does a knife trencher put fiber and DSL?

Title. What’s the usual depth a knife trencher buries fiber or DSL? The telecom lines in my yard have been marked recently but no depth given.
