Perks that Brunei gahmen will never take away (unless really really broke)

Everyone knows gahmen is broke, with budget deficits for more than 10 years already and dwindling OnG revenues. Yearly budgets (development, education, tourism etc) cut left and right except RF pocket money. Despite this, for better or worse, I am confident that the following won't be cut no matter what (although may be tweaked to reduce eligible recipients), unless gahmen really really broke, not because big boss is all caring for the rakyat but because he is afraid of revolt:

  1. Fuel subsidies (unless they can come up a Malaysia like Budi95 targeted subsidy system or a way to charge more if you use more like electricity)

  2. Water and electricity (technically they have already cut these subsidies stealthily, they have changed the rates such that the more you use the more expensive it gets and frame it as energy conservation or protecting environment)

  3. Healthcare (quality may decrease, stateless red ic or yellow ic living overseas may be next to get the cut though)

  4. Education (quality may decrease, less overseas scholarships, 2nd degree or Masters, PhD no longer free)

  5. Pay cut or retrenchment for existing civil servants (no year end bonus maybe, but this is definitely no no)

  6. Sugar subsidies (in the name of health, and I fully support removing this subsidy)

  7. Road tax increase (may increase commercial vehicles road tax but this is also no no)

What other perks do you think gahmen will never cancel or reduce? You may have noticed I didn't include rice. Yeah I think they could cut rice subsidies.

Mosques should be part of Malaysia’s tourism ecosystem, says DPM

He said mosques had a significant role to play in the tourism industry by becoming part of tourists' journey to discover the history, culture and Islamic civilisation in Malaysia.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Bagan Datuk MP, said the time had come for more mosques nationwide to organise programmes such as NMOD as they provided opportunities for people from various backgrounds, ages and religions to engage with mosque institutions in a harmonious environment.
