👋 Welcome to r/myfreelancers - Introduce Yourself and Read First!

Hey everyone 👋

Welcome to the community.

This space is mainly for professional freelancers — whether you’re in design, marketing, writing, tech, consulting, finance, fitness or any other professional freelance work.

You don’t need to have everything figured out here. If you’re feeling uncertain about your next side hustle, dealing with difficult clients, struggling with inconsistent income, or just trying to build a more stable freelance career, you’re in the right place.

Everyone here is coming from different stages: some are just starting out, some are fully independent, and some are somewhere in between. There’s no fixed path and no one has it perfectly figured out.

Feel free to share anything or even just a rant when things get overwhelming. Serious discussions are welcome, and so are casual ones. The only expectation is mutual respect and no judgment.

The goal is to build a supportive space where freelancers can be honest, learn from each other, and grow together. We’ll also be organizing casual meetups and sharing opportunities from time to time, so do stick around if this resonates with you.

Make yourself at home 👍

2 years unemployement as a software engineer

I have been unemployed for 2 years now and I'm at a point where I do not know what to do anymore.

I had multiple interviews, made it to several stages and then, nothing. Several recruiters and HR have approached me, but they do not think that I am a viable candidate as I have a 2 years gap in my resume.

I used my time as a web dev freelancer and also did some personal projects using different tech stacks. But these don't seem to count towards my experience.

There are multiple occasions where I feel like ending it all, but I have a wife and a 9 months old baby. I feel like i'm a failure as a husband and a father. My savings are nearing its limits and i'm barely scraping doing grab car.

Any advice on how I could pull myself back up?
