Software tier list (Canada focused)

Software tier list (Canada focused)

I temp a lot and these are my thoughts on different softwares. It may or may not be very biased

S tier

  • Open dental: So easy to use, everything is right in one section. S tier easily. Also isn't cloud based so doesn't suffer from internet lag
  • Curve: Clean and modern user interface. Easy to get the hang of
  • Tracker: Similar to above, clean visuals, easy to navigate. Could also go in high A tier

A tier

  • Cleardent: Classic program, solid software but nothing special. Top of A tier - S tier contender
  • Abeldent: Similar to cleardent, not as popular though so havent used it as much
  • PowerPractice: Easy to navigate, straightforward, simple. Perio chart layout is questionable... Bottom of A tier

B tier

  • Oryx: Very modern design - too many buttons. I dont like how the schedule view randomly changes and you have to change it back to see the full schedule. A tier contender
  • Dentrix: Dentrix is like the old pair of sneaker you refuse to throw out. You like it because you're used to it but theres better ones out there.

C tier

  • Gold: Old program. Nothing special and chart can be viewed by one person at a time
  • Maxident: It takes like 10 button clicks to post treatment, next update they should make it so you have to solve a captcha to post too. Paint mode is a cool feature though.

F tier

  • Too many buttons. Launching a spaceship would be easier

Freecad vs plasticity for automotive panels/farings/bodywork

Hello, I've been using freecad for about a month now and am planning to do some projects designing custom motorcycle farings - and I'm basically wondering if I should continue expanding on learning freecad to do this or if I should use a software designed to model complex curved shapes that custom farings would have (plasticity).

Any thoughts from people who have experience doing this in freecad, or people who have used plasticity?

How to make offset geometry single side?

I'm following this tutorial which uses the offset tool in the sketcher, but when i use the tool it puts an offset on both sides instead of one side like how it shows in the video. How do you change this

Source

Just started learning freecad this month and have been enjoying making and 3d printing a lot of different things. Obviously as everyone knows theres a bit of a learning curve to 3d design, and augmenting strong skills with ai would make designing way easier.

Its kind of a controversial topic but do you think freecad would eventually have this kind of integration
