How do y'all seniors at MIT manage diwali trip to home?

I'm from UP and going home for diwali is non negotiable for me. Can't skip diwali anyhow. So when y'all book tickets and there are no diwali holidays so how y'all manage to take leaves? Do you just bunk classes or take leaves?

My parents are forcing me to take tier 3 engineering clg!!

So my jee mains rank was 1.4L (I'm General male) and boards overall 92% (PCM 84%). I'm from UP

Recently I got admitted into MIT Manipal main campus electronics engineering. The problem is that Manipal is 2000km + from my hometown (12 hours by flight because there are no direct flights) and the expenses to go (two persons) would be ₹20-25k per journey (7k flight ticket per person for one side) and travel by road to reach the airport aside. Though finances are not a major concern the main issue is the sheer time to go there (by train it's 36hrs)

My parents want me to take any local tier three clg in the Delhi-NCR region because it'll be considerably closer to home, tried on Thapar but missed r1 and r2 cutoffs were just crazy. I might get Jaypee and some other colleges if registrations are still open.

I'm taking part in UPTAC and REAP Rajasthan counselling. My parents are forcing me to take some clg ECE or even Mech from there (I'm not interested in CSE so I won't take it anyway). Idt that I'll even get MBM Mech at my jee rank. I've got no hopes honestly for UPTAC clgs as i checked on google, most of the clgs that I'll get are ass (apart from JSS i think it's not that bad)

I don't want to take a drop year seeing how mad cutoffs are this year and provided that i already have an upper tier 2 pvt clg seat.

Is there any chance that i can get anything worth considering in these counsellings?? Please help me!!!

How to convince my father?

So I got EE in MIT Manipal. My jee mains crl was 90k. My father thinks that I can get something better than manipal with my jee score like NIT, IIIT and state colleges (I'm from UP so shite HS quota). I'm general with absolutely no reservation whatsoever. How do i tell him that the options I'll get through CSAB counselling and other state counselling wouldn't be any better than what I'm getting at MIT Manipal.

The main issue is that Manipal is hell ahh far from my home (35 hr by train and even if i go by flight it would take the whole day because I'll have to travel two hours by car to Lucknow and then two hours from Mangalore airport to Manipal). His main concern is the sheer distance between my home and Manipal, he wants me to take a college in North India (tried for bitsat but f*cked it with 175 marks).

How to convince him that manipal is the best option that i can get now

Tho I've registered for Thapar counselling but it feels unlikely that I'll get something there. Help!!!

Is placements stats for EE good??

So I'll be joining MIT Manipal Electronics Engineering this year and wanted to know about the placement stats. What is the average and median package? Interships?? And at what criteria do they give specialisations to students like vlsi, instrumentation, biomedical etc.

How many north indians in mit?

So i was wondering what's the ratio of north and south students in mit manipal? And is there any discrimination towards north indians? And outside campus, do students from the north face any difficulties? What's the most spoken language there?
