See above.

My favorite thing to do is people watch.
Let’s just make conversation out of nothing
I’m pretty good at it

Still cohabitating, need hope.

She runs the AC at 69 and leaves the doors open when it’s 80° out.
She lets the kids sit around on electronics all day and doesn’t engage with them.
After a 12 hour shift, she forbid me from wrestling with my kid in her bedroom, a.k.a. our old bedroom.
The mortgage is exclusively in my name, though the deed is in both names.
She’s dragging her feet and making it as long and painful as possible.
We basically just launched discovery on one another because she wouldn’t agree to 50-50 and I wouldn’t agree to every other weekend and she wasn’t willing to negotiate beyond that.
Any advice to expedite a living situation change ASAP??
Generalized Hope also appreciated.

First time playing a real course tomorrow

I’ve been playing about 3 months.
Alternating between par 3 course and driving range.
Today banged in quite a few pars.

Tomorrow I’ll play 9 holes at a local public course for the first time ever.

Any advice? Words of encouragement? Am I playing too soon?

It’s like a scab. It was gonna fall off in its own, we just facilitated a process.

This analogy is working for me, can you take it a step deeper?

The loneliness

Just took my son on a cruise. He’s having a blast but also doing his own thing.

Feeling super lonely. STBX never wanted me making friends or talking to strangers “that’s weird.” I can hear her voice.

Now I’m having a really hard time with it all.

Any suggestions to break the ice and just make some cruise Friends? I don’t drink - 8 years sober.

Thanks in advance. Really feeling down.

Ideas for socialization/lonliness

42, STBX 47, two kids, 13&11.
I told her I was done after many years of control and abuse
Just the other day she told me I couldnt watch tv in the living room after work because “it’s too bright.” She criticizes everything I say or do.
She’s as mean as a rat.

A week later I got served
Still co-habitating
Haven’t had mediation yet
Awaiting house appraisal
I imagine this is gonna go on for months.

One of my issues is that she isolated me (sounds like a victim, I know).
Didn’t want me hanging out with people from work or making friends in the neighborhood.
My mom moved away due the toxicity, and she refused to ever do any social events through my job or neighborhood
Other parents in little league & school thought I was a single parent to begin with.
My attorney loves the fact that I literally do every doctor, dentist, school conference, coach sports, etc. she does nothing like that.
She makes their beds, cleans their rooms, and enables them if anything
She had no social circle
Over the past week or two, she’s been going places. Where? I have no idea. Not all the time, but more than she used to.

Kids are of an age where they’re doing more
Sleepovers, hang outs, etc. I don’t want to be up their butts as I know it’s important for their development to do their own thing.

I’ve been feeling quite lonely (and was before the divorce was initiated)
Playing golf, taking the kayak out, but would appreciate friends.

Ideas for support?
General advice given the circumstances?

Cohabitating - help!

I own the home.
It’s fully in my name.
She won’t move out.
My attorney told me not to move out.
2 boys - ages 11 and 13
How do we co-parent and co-habitate successfully?
How long will this take?
It feels really difficult.

Advice

STBX’s mom passed away from GBM (aggressive brain cancer) during our separation.
I told her I was filing maybe 6 weeks before her mom ended up on hospice.
Truly unrelated.
I considered everything in the decision.
She’s abusive.
Shes told me “fuck you, I hate you, go fuck your mother” amongst other verbal abuse for years (in front of kids).
Abuse started way before her mom was ever diagnosed.
I finally “gave up.”
Or stood up for myself depending on your perspective,
Her Aunt hasn’t replied to any of my condolences.
Her grandmother told me that will wont accept any messages from me.
Her dad (step dad) did acknowledge my messages to him, and I think he realizes I’m breaking generations of marital abuse.
Nevertheless, I’m still riddled with guilt knowing I’m doing what’s best for kids (and for us!)
I’ve always had a pretty good relationship with her dad(step dad).
He’s not a big texter.
I don’t think a letter or email would make sense.
Should I call him to express condolences ?
During his wife’s (STBXs Mom) decline we talked maybe every other month on the phone.
I don’t want to make it about me or the divorce but it’s certainly present.
Seems like the right thing to do.
Seeking advice.

the agony and the ecstasy

Case 1.
66-year-old mother of local politician
Routine labs
Creatine 6.6
Hemoglobin 6.3
Normal vitals
Negative fecal occult.
What could it be?
Sad ending.

Case 2.
91 year-old woman.
BIBA for weakness from nursing home
55 pounds
Normal height
Absolutely no history to be found on epic or elsewhere.
Initially hypotensive but responding to fluids.
Stone cold normal labs.
Spend an hour with the family having a goals of care discussion. They had initially wanted her to be admitted and transferred to a different nursing facility.
They chose hospice..
Happy ending.

I hate it but I love it.

I’m an LCSW turned PA with less than 5 years experience

My first 4 patients today

  1. Legit clonidine overdose in a young-ish guy convinced he had ALS
  2. Granny with AMS, expressive aphasia, recently stopped thinners for dental procedure.
3.Old guy who sliced the daylights out of both hands when the RC plane he was tinkering with turned on and he tried to stop the propellers. Innumerable lacerations to hands and fingers.
  3. Back pain seen 4 times in last week, get an MRI today - Cauda equina

The dept was a dumpster fire all day.
When does the nightmare end?

I feel totally in over my head.
And the Pitt does a damn good job, but you can’t make this stuff up.

Married 15 years. 2 boys together. I can’t do it anymore.

She regularly curses me out. One of her favorite lines is “go F your mother.” She’s isolated me from nearly all friends and family. Rules the roost. Spends all the money. Constant criticism. Here for support. I call her the “Tyrant of eggshell city.” Didn’t the sonic villan have a name like that?
