This film was originally commissioned as an introduction to a series of opera broadcasts on German television. It provides an intimate look at the behind-the-scenes workings and preparations for the renowned Bayreuth Festival, the annual celebration of Richard Wagner's operatic works. Featured prominently are The Flying Dutchman, Parsifal, and Tristan und Isolde. Herzog's official website describes The Transformation of the World Into Music as "a personal portrait and backstage view of the Richard-Wagner-Festival in Bayreuth and the mysteries of opera".

Some new additions to the Herzog collection that arrived today

Got these used from medimops.de.

Hope we're getting a proper blu-ray release of "Incident at Loch Ness" some day, but for now the French DVD will do. Comes with three audio commentaries, two featuring Werner Herzog (one in character, one out of character) and a ton of deleted scenes, including the one that started the myth about Herzog refusing to speak French.

Deutsche Untertitel von "Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma"

Gerade Jane Schoenbruns "Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma" im Kino in der OmU gesehen.

Hab die Untertitel so gut es ging ausgeblendet, aber an einer Stelle ist mir eine faszinierende (bzw. eigentlich ziemliche peinliche) Fehlübersetzung aufgefallen. Da hat der Übersetzer offenbar das Wort "his" (zugegebenermaßen in einem sehr ausgeprägten Südstaaten-Dialekt gesprochen) als "ears" verstanden.

So wurde dann aus "I saw through a new set of eyes. His." in den Untertiteln "Ich sah durch neue Augen. Und Ohren."

Ich nehme an sowas passiert, wenn Menschen für die Übersetzung und Qualitätskontrolle weder Zeit noch Budget haben. Immer noch besser als K.I., aber trotzdem schade.

I love browsing the Funko Pop shelf in my local drugstore and finding the most random-ass figures. wonder if anyone at that company ever had an idea that was shot down.

I think they're ugly as shit so I never considered buying one, although if I'd find the Werner Herzog one in the wild I'd probably get it.
