Is it not simply too small to do that?
I saw this aticle in Science Norway and am puzzled.
My query is: Is Alpha-galcatose not way too small to work as an antigen?

I wonder greatly at the type of criticism directed in this article.
The problem with it is that it accepts no repsosibility for posing a defined alternative! What, in fact, would the writer fashion for us as the better approach? it is not obvious to me. The problem with people who practise migration across borders coming up against people's will to define and defend borders is as old as the idea of nations - which is ancient.
Would the critics rather have us leave the situation wide open, and then deal with the inevitable conflicts that came down the road? The last group of Goths who sought entry into the Roman empire in their fear of the Huns, were wiped out summarily by the Romans, as they figured 'Rome was full'. Today, there is a prominent influencer living in Canada who unequivocally expressed some years ago, that 'Canada was full'.
Would the critics of our border policies have us discuss with reality? Is there 'always room for one more, who uses Rexona'? I'm afraid that is only in our dreams...
I very often get off at a bus that stops just after having crossed an intersection, at which there are flashing lights that can be activated by a pedestrian who wishes to cross the busy road on which the bus runs. Most often, younger people will leave the bus by one of the back exits, but I prefer the front, because it is less of a step, and I am often carrying heavy beags. The people who leave from further back walk briskly up to the intersection, push the button to activate the crossing lights, and quickly cross the road. By the time I get there from the front of the bus, the flashing lights are getting stale, and drivers are impatient to 'get on with it', so, I usually choose to wait a bit before I find it decent (or wise) to push the light button again, to cross.
I know with myself, that if I were any of those 'fast' people. I would look back and wait till everyone who might have wished to cross had caught up and were at the lights. I have NEVER seen another person do do, not once. Am I really the only one who acts on that level of care and consideration for others? If I share a crosswalk with someone with a walker or walking stick, and I can see they're not going to make it comfortably across, but will have to rely on the good will of drivers after these have the green light, I walk with their speed, so they'll not be left alone 'out there'. Again, I have never seen another do so - but I 've always been thanked.
Has it really gone entirely out of fashion to give a damn about others?
We have adopted 'racialized' as a flip word to somehow describe people who are supposedly disadvantaged among the rest of us, because we view them as 'other' and, based on this, give them short shrift in various contexts.
This, I believe, springs from the idea of 'race' being a 'social construct', which concept, I believe, many misunderstand and misuse.
'Race' is real. It is real enough that we can find human remains of recent origin and determine the 'race' of the deceased person. It is real enough that we look profoundly different from each other and mostly can be assigned a 'race' easily enough. It is not a fiction, which many seem to believe is the meaning of 'social construct', as in a paradigm being superimposed on reality, but which does not actually answer to reality. This is not the case with 'race'. But it has given raise to the concept of being 'racialized', because, if 'race isn't real, but is merely a fiction, then being assigned a 'race' is, of course an act against reality and so must have a name, i.e. 'racialization'.
Where race IS a 'social construct' is in its origin! People, who had a common root of ancestry DECIDED to segregate into communities along 'preferential' lines, and to stick with this selective process long enough that we now indeed do have 'races', but that was and is entirely a result of decision and of choice, and we could, in fact, completely undo racial segregation and the existence of 'races' by aggressive mixing of the currently known 'races', as we are indeed all belonging to the same species.
Right now, paradoxically, we are all 'racializing' each other. There is a mighty hypocrisy in the concept itself. If we're all doing it to each other, as we are, then no one is actually being singled out for that particular type of oppression. I am supposedly a 'white' person. However, it is very safe to say that I have been addressed and mentioned as 'white' vastly many more times than I have myself remarked on other people's supposed ancestry or, indeed, 'race', as, to me, it lies far down on the list of characteristics I would use to describe a person. I only do so, if it is directly relevant to the interaction I've had with someone, and, in most cases, it isn't.
I am not claiming that we don't have great social ills related to 'race', and that we won't be poorly served if we simply perpetuate our current understanding and maintain our prevailing practises related to it. I have seen a great number of ugly manifestations of racial prejudice, and believe that this must change for the better. I am equally concerned, however, that we keep our thinking in these matters clear enough to see where he changes actuallly can and must happen. I think we assume way too much that we already know, and I see a need for much more extensive dialogue across racial/cultural divides if we truly want better.
I'm very interested in what others think about this.
These are the color-makers that grace my garden today, and of June! In order from top left, over , then down:
Regal lily; sempervivum; chicory; clematis 'Etoile violette'; swamp milkweed; echinacea, 'Cheyenne spirit'; crocosmia, 'Lucifer'; callicarpa (beauty berry), and clematis 'Pink Fantasy'.
Don't know why the pic got posted twice! Help, please. What did I do?
It seems that we're really lacking in resourcefulness, when it comes to how we can 'reconcile' in earnest!
Here's an idea: Why does 'ancient remains' not simply translate into immediate proven land-claims? That way, we could solve the problems by the Crown taking over such land, paying the owner compensation, leaving them free to pursue happiness elsewhere, and then handing the area over to Indigenous communities, who would henceforth have the jurisdiction and the right to decide if/how/when to pursue archeological endeavors? Does that not seem far more just and fair than insisting that hapless homebuyers who find themselves in that kind of quagmire should be solely responsible for pursuing investigations?
Can anyone cast light on this message? i used to be able to upload pics to the picture search and now this???
The last couple of days it seems that part of our system (which runs on WiFi) has been a bit wobbly.
I'm thinking this might be due to activity to do with surveillance of the FIFA fan activities. Has anyone else experienced anything similar within the same time frame?

This morning, I wished to attach a picture of my cat in a reply to someone'es post. When I tried to do the comment, I was stopped by the dreaded red ribbon on top of the page, which, in this case. told me that 'media respources must be owned by the poster'. I took this picture with my camera in my house and have posted it before in 'cats' on reddit. Does that mean that reddit now 'believes it owns my picture? If that is the case, am I truly prevented from posting it again in another context, or is there a way of getting past this red ribbon?
I was prevented from posting this, and told to go find another subreddit more suitable.
I was literally told that 'this reddit is for help with reddit and reddit's features'
What gives?
I am in the process of packing up and returning my equipment after having cancelled my services with Shaw/Rogers. In the instructions, they mention returning 'power cables'. Does anyone know if this also includes HDMI cables?
Update: Thank you so much for the prompt and to-the-point advice. You could ask: Why don't I just call the company? Because every time I do, they try to start a long discussion with me about reversing my decision, and it's not up for discussion.
