Question about ward staff strata (Warwick)

Just trying to do some research into how the makeup of a ward looks like, so I have a better idea of who to ask for information as my elderly mother's currently on a lengthy stay.

Usually we get to speak to nurses, but the OT we were dealing with was quite informative. My dad attempted to talk to a consultant but they left without acknowledging them. The nurses are great but they move wards and aren't always knowledgable about the current status of a patient due to this.

Currently the staff rotation makes it quite difficult to understand who's in charge. Who should we possibly talk with to get a more holistic view of the hospital's opinion of my mother's stay and potential future? Is it worth writing rather than talking?

Thanks in advance, this is a difficult situation and we're a bit out of our depth. Any advice helpful.

Alright, enough with the snobbery...

OK, we all have opinions, but also - this is a Cardiff sub. People are going to live all over the place and have different experiences. The only place I've lived I've EVER had trouble at was in Wimbledon, and that's a posh area. But also it's nice to be positive about where most of us live, rather than come on here to find some try hard trying to get upvotes for being an edgy pillock.

There's been a big uptick in mocking places like Splott, Riverside, Grangetown and, well, Ely and Gabalfa recently. They're not places without issues, but they're also not gangland Manhattan circa 1990. City Road is another area that is in line for a drubbing, but I bet a lot of Cardiff readers eat out there fine, same with Clifton Street, which I'll personally admit has become a mess but is generally perfectly safe to walk down. And has some good places to eat and shop if you get over the fear of venturing out of Penylan in case you encounter *shudder* the poors. You'd think some of these commenters live in a war zone.

Hell, I've been with a taxi driver that called it out for "looking like Baghdad", when it's the druggies that are the issue. And they keep to themselves. At night? So many people on the street that not much is going to happen. I know of nobody locally that's had a run-in aside from with the aforementioned addicts, and that was because someone had OD'd and needed help.

Adamsdown itself around Clifton Street is just mainly middle-income and working class people getting on with it, and even has its own circus and carnival. Part of it is even, gasp, a bit posh.

Hell, I bet half of the people making these comments and downvoting haven't even been to places like Splott before. Which is nowadays pretty much safe as houses and has places like Railway Gardens and nice parks. Lord knows what they're scared of. An old man looking at you funny? And Grangetown, Riverside? Given an estate agent said they wouldn't sell us a property there, looking at the general makeup of the population, I'd say perhaps a bit of the ol' racism is rearing its head.

C'mon, let's be realistic. Lots of these comments are made by people fearful of their own front door. Cardiff has the same issues as lots of other similarly sized cities (the worst, frankly, being the rubbish situation) but there's no need to snidely mock and denigrate areas where lots of people on this sub live. At most, it's just nasty, at best, it's completely unhelpful when people have legit questions about these areas.

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk. Have away at it.

Good video on the current state of ToonBoom

Sean teaches animation in the UK, in particular Harmony. This is a particularly in depth look at ToonBoom’s current issues, including delving into userbase numbers and ethical issues surrounding Ember. So of course it’s hard to see someone who actively teaches it having to document the current problems.

I work in boards as a freelancer and have been increasingly unhappy with ToonBoom ever since they forced Mac owners to pay for the M-chip series upgrade. They shifted to a strange “support” subscription model and also the updates seemed far lesser than in previous iterations.

I’m hoping someone else picks up the slack in boards but we do see more people picking up the wonderful Moho. Let’s hope Moho stay great - and also start with some storyboard solutions…

Gilmore Girls - I’m sure Luke is autistic

Older autistic person here. My wife is watching the Gilmore Girls (again) and it’s the episode where Luke discovers he has a daughter.

She’s very straight talking and extremely clever, is only twelve but seems a little lonely and has created this insane and extremely thorough project to test dna to discover who her father is. Her reaction to meeting her father is quite muted and pragmatic.

So there’s definitely SOMETHING there.

So anyway, it’s Luke. Which made me think; he only cooks burgers, he’s very over sensitive, he is extremely over reactive, otherwise he’s very muted and wears the EXACT SAME CLOTHES all the time. He never ever takes off his hat.

And Laura is plainly ADHD.

Anyway I’m pretty sure my partner is at least that (or neurodivergent) and our kid is being investigated for suspected ASD and I’m sitting here seeing patterns and writing this.

Anyway Gilmore Girl fans do sound off and enjoy a thread about neurodivergent Gilmore Girls theories.

Erm I’ll just sit here watching the chaos.

Edit - a thought, there’s an argument for lorelai but I think her flat talking is just the actress not being able to act

Joined just to ask this. It is basically the EXACT same music just with a little twist. My son is watching it and lo, my ears pricked. Composer seems to have gotten away with it, too as I can’t find any evidence anyone else has noticed…
