hey, i just finished building my pc and im kinda confused about the bios versions so i figured id ask here
i have a gigabyte x870e aorus elite wifi7 rev 1.2, and im currently on fa5. my cpu is a ryzen 9 9950x3d, gpu is an rtx 5080 16gb, ram is 32gb (2x16) corsair vengeance ddr5 6000 cl30 expo, 4tb lexar nm990, 1000w be quiet dark power 14, and a lian li hydroshift 2 oled curved aio. im on windows 11.
the pc is working completely fine right now. windows is installed, all my drivers are installed, the 9950x3d and 5080 are recognized properly and i have expo 1 + x3d turbo mode enabled.
the gigabyte page is showing these bios versions:
fb2d - july 20 2026 - agesa 1.3.0.1c, better cxmt/cxsh memory compatibility
fb2b - june 29 2026 - agesa 1.3.0.1b patch a, expo ultra low latency, tsme, security/stability
fb1 - may 20 2026 - agesa 1.3.0.1, expo ultra low latency
fa9 - feb 2026
fa7 - dec 2025
fa6 - nov 2025
fa5 - july 2025 (what im currently on)
ive been getting conflicting answers about whether fb2b/fb2d are beta bioses just because they have the lowercase letter at the end. some people say they are beta, other people say you cant assume that unless gigabyte actually labels them beta.
so basically should i update at all? and if i should, would you guys go for fb2d, fb2b, fb1 or just stay on fa5?
also is fb2d actually compatible with a 9950x3d + 6000 cl30 expo ram? and can i go directly from fa5 to the newer bios or would i need to install the versions in between?
im not having any problems right now, i just dont wanna leave a year-old bios on a brand new high end pc if the newer ones actually improve stuff.
thanks
Hey guys, im building my pc rn, i bought 1 regular 3 pack for my radiator hydroshift 2, 1 reverse lcd 3pack, 1 reverse 3pack and a lcd regular rear. All sf-inf wireless. What im seeing is two 4 pin cables that come from the fan, what im guessing is the one that only has 2 contact pads in it goes into my sata cable thingy that came with the fans, and the 4 pin one goes into my sys fan port in mu motherboard. Is that correct? My issue here is that i pnly have 3 of those ports and i have 4 different fans. (Three 3 packs and one 1 pack) or do both of those 2 cables that r on the fans go into the sata thing? Let me know please! Im new to building pc’s. I also have another question, besides these 4 fans i also have 2 strimers, and these are looking like a lot of controllers, how many do i need to use from what pack to control everything? Cause i dont have that many usb slots in the back of my pc. Thanks!
Im currently isntalling me lexar nm990 into my x870e gigabyte aorus, i bever built a pc before but the ssd goes under the lever just fine but the heatsink doesnt. What do i do? I thought i was doing everything correctly
since the 5080 i wanted to buy (PNY) went from 1290 to 1550 and all others went up too i decided to just go ahead and get a more reliable brand (MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16G GAMING TRIO OC). is it just plain stupid to buy that rn because the prices went up or will the prices stay like this just like the 5090? or might it even go higher? do i buy the msi right now or nah? i've been wanting my pc for months and idk if i wanna wait much longer
hey guys im getting 10 lian li fans for my case (lian li 011d evo rgb) and ill put my pc on my desk to my right, so ill want the pretty sides of the fans to be visible through the glass, so not from the outside but facing inside. the first one im getting is the lian li uni fan sl-inf 120 wireless 3pack, the second one im getting is the lian li uni fan sl-inf LCD flex 120 3pack, the third one im getting is the lian li uni fan sl-inf LCD flex 120 REVERSED FAN 1pack and the last one as my cooler too, im getting the lian li hydroshift II oled curved 360 tl watercooler AIO. i was thinking i make the bottom a 3pack without LCD as a intake, the 3pack with lcd on the side as intake too, the 1pack reverse with lcd on the rear as exhaust and the cooler on the top as exhaust too. is this an optimal fan layout? will all the pretty sides be facing the inside? so it'll be pretty when looking through the glass? or am i doing sum wrong?
im gonna be building my pc soon, and i've jumped from wanting a 9070xt, to a 5070 ti, to now a 5080. my problem though, is that im struggling to decide what model to go with. my current setup uses 2080 super and the rest is really outdated stuff, so it'll be a huge jump for me anyways and ill be glad with what i get. i was thinking about the PNY 5080 because it has rgb, which fits my entire build (im tryna be as flashy as possible). its the cheapest 5080 i could find too, coming in at 1290 euros. i couldnt find any other cheaper ones on any other website or whatever. but i heard some people say that the pny 5080 makes a whole lotta noise and its performance is a joke, and i should just save up more money and go for another model. could anyone please help me here? i really want the pny because it'd fit my build and its the cheaper option but if its really bad ill need to reconsider. thanks a lot in advance.
