Rose-ringed parakeet - first birding photo's

I bought a camera last year, but after my holiday I lent it to my niece and only recently got it back. I hadn't used it since then.

This morning, sitting on my balcony, I noticed a lot of birds and started watching them through my binoculars. At some point I grabbed the camera instead. Since I'm still not familiar with all the settings and buttons, most of the photos turned out badly. That's fine, though, from what I keep reading, that's just part of the hobby :).

One photo, though, I really liked, and I was pleasantly surprised it turned out (fairly) sharp. The photo is after cropping, denoise and sharpen. The original is below.

Be gentle with me.

ObsIdentify zegt echter koperwiek.

Aangezien ik pas sinds kort een beetje “vogel”, dacht ik, laat ik hier eens om hulp vragen.

The cyclops is honestly kinda ugly, and deep down everyone knows it.

You’ve got this clean, symmetrical dial, and then someone glues a little dome of glass on top that warps the view the second you’re not looking straight at it. On any other brand, you’d call that a design flaw. On Rolex, we suddenly call it “iconic.”

As the story goes, Hans Wilsdorf added it because his wife had trouble reading the date. Though Rolex has never actually confirmed that, so it’s more marketing folklore than documented fact.

Either way, it’s nostalgia dressed up as design. And the funniest part, tons of microbrands slap one on too now, just to look more Rolex. They’re copying a compromise and calling it style.

This would be my dream watch

This week Longines launched the new Master Collection, and I really like the applied blue 3D numerals.

I'd love to see Longines bring these numerals to a new 42mm Master Collection Moonphase. For me that combination would be the perfect daily.

I put together a AI mock-up to show what I mean. I think the applied numerals add depth and character to the dial but also keep the look intact?

Would you prefer the applied numerals or the printed ones?
