Brain storming an idea for Weird Al cameo

This is something I want to surprise my group as a joke. So here’s the premise, the party is about to raid a military based and find a secret government facility underneath. They open one of the holding cell in the lab and see Weird Al in there.

Why is he there? And what is he doing down there? And what is he wearing?

Congratulation! You are now working at Paizo and your first job is to create a new skill for each ability score (including constitution). One each. What will you add?

Just some creative exercise, don’t take it too seriously. And don’t poach Starfinder skill, that’s cheating!

Is there a way to play half elf or half orc that is also a nephilim?

So half elf and half orc are versatile heritage but so is nephilim. It kinda makes sense if half elves could also be a planer scion but mechanically you can’t create one. So is there a legal way (beside reflavor) to get a half elf tiefling or half orc assimar?

My current idea is to get an adopt ancestry elf or orc and ask GM if I can also pick aiuvarin or dromar feat as well.

To GM, How do you deal with Unconventional Weaponry feat in your game?

Nowaday I just let people pick whatever weapon they want, one way or another player will try to work around the "weapon that are common from another culture" part by just playing character from another continent. Which kinda tick me of a little bit, it feel really insincere like they don't actually want to play this character from other culture because they are interesting but because "Hey, falcata is common in Taldan, so my character are from (insert country)".

I really hate this man, I want player to come up with interesting character and this is not it.

So how other GM deal with this?

Fighter should get to pick at least 3 weapon group

Here me out, this will solve a problem for dual wielder, switch hitter, combination weapon, haft striker, and for any fighter that need a back up weapon. One weapon group for their main weapon, one for their off hand weapon, and one for range back up weapon (or back up melee weapon for archer).

A homebrew Retro Futuristic 80s-90s Weapons, I use in my current Cold War Punk campaign

SF2e Retro Futuristic 80s-90s Weapons

This is a giant list of spread sheet I make specifically for my current campaign that I run set in a world I dubbed "Modernia" which is currently set in a 1980s and currently in a high tension between 3 worlds super power. The Capitalist Human, The Socialist Dwarf, and The Old Elf Empire (Basically Colonial Era European). Basically this world is just C&C Red Alert with fantasy race.

My world is retro futuristic which mean it also has Fallout, Wasteland, and Cyberpunk style technology (And for that Tech weapon).

So here's the stuff that will be include in this table

- New guns based on real world weapon with new ammo type

- New sci-fi gun based on Fallout, Wasteland, and Cyberpunk. Also new ammo type to go along with it (My tech gun don't use battery but new type of ammo).

- New melee weapon

- New trait to go along with these weapon, some example
Burst Fire : Boost for analog gun
Cumbersome : Heavy gun that hinder your movement while holding
Scatter : New trait for shotgun, deal extra damage in first range increment.
Smart : Smart auto target allow you to make more accurate shot when lock on to target but lose accuracy when not locking on target.

- New weapon category : Heavy Weapon
A weapon class inspired by menace game. A weapon so heavy you need to set up before fire. But come with really big damage in exchange. (I didn't play test these stuff at all, so it's all idea at the moment)

- New Weapon Upgrade

- New Grenade

- A reskin armor and shield option

Things that I currently work on

- Grenade Launcher and Rocket Launcher (I'm waiting for Tech core to came out to see the rocket launcher option)

- More ammo type (Like AP, HP, FMJ, Tracer, etc)

This is kinda my passion project from arm chair study of firearm in my free time and I think I kinda ready to share this. I'll be updating this or modified some of the stuff in my free time as I use them in my game and see something need to be change. I hope you all enjoy these homebrew.

How to implement poleaxe?

One of my most favorite medieval polearm but it might has a problem when try to implement to PF2e as it is. It's the polearm that can deal all three type of physical damage and doesn't justify for being a modular weapon since it doesn't actually has to change mode, you just flip side similar to longsword versatile P. But you can't just give it 2 versatile damage neither.

So what to do with it? One of the solution I see in Pillars of Eternity is to get rid of the spear part so it could be versatile B but that just seem a bit weird. Modular is the obvious answer but feel really off (maybe that just my problem).

Witch Patron for Sabrina the Teenage Witch

I’m kinda surprise that I never try to build her before and now I’m kinda struggle to pick patron for her.

Note : I’m mostly familiar with the 60s-70s cartoon, 2010s comic run and Kelly Thompson run. So you might have to explain the live action one for me.

Weapon Inventor but they can pick any weapon from Starfinder as a band aid fix to Weapon Inventor

After fiddling around Starbuilder I just realized one thing. Range Weapon Inventor would work stupidly well with range weapon selection from Starfinder. They rarely need to reload, simple two hand range weapon turn into a 5 round d10 weapon with a 100 ft. range, or just straight up pick magneter rifle as a weapon invention. And all of these weapon can be flavor as cool tech weapon your inventor came up with. This might be really good band aid fix for weapon inventor since one of the problem with them is that the innovation is kinda boring. Armor inventor get a fancy power armor, construct inventor get a robot friend, and so weapon inventor should get to pick cool stuff they can't normally get.

Oh and if you let overdrive work automatic and auto-fire weapon that would open up a lot of choice for inventor too.

So anyone have an available slot, please contact me and let’s see if our schedule align.

Idea for a weapon upgrade : Weapon Sling

This is one of the weapon equipment that rarely see use in any game with a gun I have played so I wanna give it a shot.

Weapon Sling (Commercial) (Level 1) 40 Credit

Usage : Install into a weapon.

This harness allow you to conveniently carry your weapon or prevent the weapon to be lose when dropped. When you drop your weapon, instead of dropping into the ground it will hanged on your body and will be able to retrieved with an interacted action. Creature can attempt to disarm the sling itself to make the weapon no longer hang on the user. They can not attempt to disarm on sling while the weapon is held and it only require a success to drop. If you have more than two weapon hang on you with the weapon sling, you become clumsy 1.

Type : Tactical ; Level 9 ; Price 9,000 credits
You can interacted to retrieve the weapon as a free action once per round

Confetti Grenade

This is a draft for confetti grenade, inspired by Wasteland 3. I was thinking about adding it into my game as a joke but then I decide to give it an actual use. I would really appreciated if I got some criticism on this draft.

Confetti Grenade [Trait : Consumable, grenade, tech]

This grenade look exactly like a frag grenade except a blue disco ball marking at the bottom. It explode into a harmless confetti upon detonation in a burst. Creature in a radius must attempt a Will save. The creature then become immune to confetti grenade for an hour.

Commercial Grade :
The burst radius is 5 feet, and on failure the creature is frightened 1.
Critical : frightened 2

Advanced Grade :
The burst radius is 10 feet, and on failure the creature is frightened 1.
Critical : frightened 2 and fleeing for 1 round.

Elite Grade :
The burst radius is 15 feet, and on failure the creature is frightened 2.
Critical : frightened 3 and fleeing 1 round.

Ultimate Grade :
The burst radius is 20 feet, and on failure the creature is frightened 2.
Critical : frightened 3 and fleeing 1 round.

How to improve Dirty Trick?

Always feel like Dirty Trick is tad bit under power. So I want to brain storm a way to improve it or discussion why it should or should not be improve.

I think that when compare to other skill you can do like Bon Mot, Demoralized it just feel underwhelming. It increase MAP, it trigger reaction, even if the effect is nice all this combine just make it too risky or not worth it to use. So I have think of 2 different way to improve it.

  1. Reduce the risk : Cut out Attack trait so it wouldn't increase or interact with MAP

  2. Improve the result : Make it similar to Bon Mot, on success the clumsy condition will stuck with the target until it take action to remove it and on crit success it become clumsy 2.

What would you do with Dirty Trick?

Operative kill all the spell caster before they can do anything meaningful

This is a problem when I run the game. I use PF2e spell caster stat block to help supplement low amount of humanoid caster in the starfinder stat block. Then I realized quickly that most of the spell range are 30 to 60 ft. They have to spend a turn to get close to the target and then an operative and a witchwarper in the team just snipe them before they can do anything.

So what can I do to help elevate enemy spell caster in this situation? I’m not expect them to survive long but at least give them a chance to cast some stuff before they die.

There should be an option to use Int for medicine in SF2e

This just really bug me, why medicine still a wisdom exclusive skill in SF2e? Heck at least make a feat or something to swap wisdom modifier for int modifier.

I want to implement a reactive explosive armor for a homebrew boss robot. Need an advice.

I run a homebrew campaign and I have an idea for the final boss to be Scorpitron MK II from Wasteland franchise. The Scorpitron in that game does not have a lot of ability so I plan to give it more move set. One of the idea is to give it reactive armor. It basically an explosive strap to the tank armor that will explode when impacted by ammunition to counteract the munition impact.

So my idea for this ability is this.

Reactive Armor (Reaction) (3 charges)

Trigger : Scorpitron is hit by projectile that deal physical damage.

Scorpitron activate reactive armor to negate the ballistic impact. Roll Flat Check DC 5. On success scorpitron lower the hit result by one step (From critical success to success, success to failure).

Would this ability be too strong?

Magus Unarmed Hybrid Studies : Eight Limbs Fury

I have an inspiration to write up this Hybrid Studies after reading Tian Xia world guide on Tang Mai. So first of all I'm Thai and I can tell that this country is heavily inspired by Thailand and nearby neighbor and that gave me this brilliant idea. Tang Mai is a country that are famous for magic user and Thailand is famous for Muy Thai martial art. I think it would be cool if Tang Mai has its own martial art that fuse traditional martial art with magic, and the practitioner of this martial art would become magus, so here I am with an idea of this martial art style. I would like to call it Muy Montra (translate to Magic Boxing or Arcane Boxing) also know as the art of Eight Limbs Fury. Here is my draft.

Eight Limbs Fury

Weapon can be break or missing in the mist of battle but for you, your weapon is your eight limbs. Fists, elbows, knees and shins are your weapon and the magic within you flow along with them in every strike or block.

You gain Arcane Fist feat.

While in Arcane Cascade stance, your magic flow in tune within your body making your body tougher and strike harder. While in this stance, the only strike you can make are Arcane Limbs. These deal 1d8 bludgeoning damage; are in the brawling group; and have the agile, backswing, finesse, parry, nonlethal, and unarmed traits.

Conflux Spell : Bone Breaker

Bone Breaker [1 Action]
You strike with great ferocity aiming to break your opponent body. Make an unarmed strike. If the Strike hits, the creature becomes your choice of clumsy 1 or enfeebled 1 until the end of your next turn (clumsy 2 or enfeebled 2 on a critical hit).

Studious Spell : I didn't think about it yet, so feel free to suggest.

Feat

Furious Strike (Level 4)

Prerequisites Arcane Cascade, eight limbs fury hybrid study

Your inner body move with greater force with each subsequent strike. You gain additional bonus damage from Arcane Cascade equal your multiple attack penalty.

Guard Breaker Spellstrike [2 Actions] (Level 10)

Prerequisites Arcane Cascade, eight limbs fury hybrid study, Spellstrike

Requirements You are in Arcane Cascade stance and your Spellstrike is charged.

You strike at your opponent guard or cover to break their defense. Make a Spellstrike. On success the creature lose the benefit of raise shield, cover, and parry. They can't use these action until the start of your next turn or until they no longer in your reach.

So what do you think with this idea?

Would you allow SF2e ancestry feat in your PF2e game?

Specifically the core ancestry (human, elf, dwarf, halfing, etc). I feel like the PF2e could benefit from allow them in the game (have to adjust flavor a bit). As a GM myself, I plan to allow them but I want to see other opinion on this too.

An idea for fixing Inventor Unstable Action : Tied it to overdrive

This is my idea to attempt fixing Unstable Action by tied Unstable mechanic to overdrive. Here's my proposal.

You can only use Unstable Action while overdrive. When you use unstable action instead of flat check you attempt to roll overdrive action. On failure the effect become critical failure and your overdrive end.

This way Unstable action will be more predictable and more reliable but the risk is higher as you have a chance to lost your overdrive all together as well.
