Doom 64 Ray Tracing - Release

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I teased some screenshots of Doom 64 RT, and I feel like the last release is quite playable.

So ... here it is! If you want TLDR in the README, simply follow the install steps.

Some notes / warnings:

  • I did not yet do a full playthrough, I did load most maps to detect and remove all fake scripted lights and textures, but there could be a few here and there left
  • Flashlight (shortcut F by default) is pretty much mandatory
  • Every level except a few have a moon casting light shafts, this is to counter the fact that without it, they would always be in pure dark. I still had colored clouds implemented to try to match original, e.g. on level 12 with purple sky / cloud.
  • Performance is harder than Doom 2 RT, I have some plan for optimization, will update as soon as something working is ready. So you might go harder on upscaling.
  • If you are allergic to AI copilot coding, well ... sad news for you 🫠

Looking forward to bug / wrongly rendered scenes reports if you find some, and hope you enjoy the few HUD and visual additions!

Good rip and tear!

I was frustrated by Mission Control so I made ExposeIcons app

Hey everyone,

I got a Macbook Pro for the first time 2-3 months ago, after 25+ years of Windows. I have to admit I kind of love it, I mostly bought it to learn more on local LLM (coming from half IT Exchange Admin and half .NET programmer).

Found myself using it a lot on my laps, and using Mission Control a lot. I know, virtual desktops 😅 but honestly I just like the feeling of MC.

Although my biggest gripe was losing so much time finding back the window I wanted to focus on. There is the Group-window option, but then its not individual ones anymore, and the shuffle seems random, compared to without it.

So as a good boy programmer ... I made an app to show icons / text on top of windows in MC to recognise them way faster. It also includes a close / minimise buttons in the MC view.

Can be tested freely : https://exposeicons.com

I know its very niche, but who knows, might interest someone.
