Does anyone else with GERD get central chest pain that feels like their heart is aching?

Hey guys,
I’ve been getting dull pain in the centre of my chest that sometimes feels like my heart is aching. I’ve already visited the emergency department and had an ECG, chest Xray, and blood tests done at the hospital, and everything came back normal.
Does anyone else with GERD experience this? It really feels like it’s my heart and it’s been worrying me. 🤦🏻‍♀️

28F Iraqi - Iraqis only

Age: 28

Origin/Ethnicity: Iraqi

Nationality: Australian

Languages spoken (with proficiency levels): English (fluent), Arabic (native). I also speak other languages.

Level of religious practice: Practising

Hijabi (F) (Yes/No): Yes. I also dress modestly and I do not wear tight or revealing clothing.

Current residence (city, country): Australia

Willing to relocate: I can’t relocate right now because I’m still finishing my degree. After I graduate, I’m open to relocating internationally.

Previously married/Kids: Never been married or engaged.

Occupation: University student (Healthcare field)

Education: On my way to completing my bachelor degree very soon.

Height (cm), weight (kg) : 160 cm, 68 kg (actively working toward my goal weight of 62 kg).

Physical appearance (specifics you think are important): Brown eyes, light-medium skin tone.

Smokes/Vapes/Hookah (Yes/No): No

Leisure activities: Watching movies, reading, exercising, going for walks, and baking.

My vibe: Introverted, rain lover, and happiest on cloudy days 🌧️🤍.

Your Preferences in a Partner:

Age range: 28-33

Origin/Ethnicity: I’m preferably looking for someone of Iraqi origin, especially with family roots from Baghdad, Babil, Karbala, Najaf, or Wasit.

Languages: Arabic, English. If living in a non-English speaking country (such as in Europe), Arabic is sufficient. However, English is required if Arabic is limited or broken.

Education: At minimum, a bachelor’s degree from a university.

Deal breakers: Smoking in any form (cigarettes, vaping, hookah), drinking alcohol, using drugs, gambling, having tattoos, having been married or engaged before, and being non-religious overall.

Other preferences (appearance, family situation, etc.): From a good family background. In terms of appearance, I prefer someone 178 cm or taller, with a light to medium or olive skin tone, and facial hair. I prefer a simple, masculine, and clean look. Someone who is mature, doesn’t follow every trend and keeps a classic, low-maintenance style. Not overly edgy or with a gangster-type aesthetic, just manly, neat, natural, and respectable.

I’m posting here because I haven’t come across the right person yet, and the Shia Muslim community where I am is very small. The pool gets even smaller when I add in ethnicity and my other preferences for a partner, so it has been extremely difficult for me to find someone in real life. Hopefully I can find Mr Right here 🤷🏻‍♀️ :)

Are dating apps really compatible with Islamic values?

Hey guys, I’ve been thinking about something and wanted to hear other people’s opinions.
I sometimes struggle with the idea of dating apps in general. Religiously and culturally, they can feel a bit off to me. For example, women are putting their photos online for many men to view, and men are essentially browsing through them and matching.
It makes me wonder...would a truly practicing conservative muslim man look for a wife through a dating app? If he’s serious about his religion, would he be comfortable meeting a potential spouse in that way?
It’s just something I genuinely think about and go back and forth on.
Do you think using dating apps such as hinge, muzz, salams etc are compatible with being a practicing muslim, or do you feel it goes against the spirit of how muslims should look for a spouse?
Curious to hear your perspectives.

Struggling to find a suitable spouse! (please read below).

I’m a female in my late 20s and I really want to get married. It’s becoming increasingly difficult, and I feel like time is passing by so quickly.

I live in a Western country where Muslims are already a minority, and within the Muslim community, Shias are an even smaller minority. Finding someone who shares my values, beliefs, and goals feels extremely challenging. Unfortunately, not everyone within the community is someone I would consider compatible in terms of character, faith, and seriousness about marriage.

My parents don’t have a large social network, so there aren’t many opportunities to meet potential matches through family friends. As for relatives, they have never been supportive and are more interested in seeing others fail than helping them succeed, so I can’t rely on them either.

I attend university, but there are hardly any Muslim men there, and the same is true in my workplace. I rarely come across suitable Muslim men in my day-to-day life.

Muslim dating apps seem to have some of the worst people on them, making them feel more discouraging than helpful. Because of that, I don’t see them as a realistic option.

Marriage and starting a family have always been important dreams of mine. I genuinely want to become a wife and a mother, but right now I feel stuck and unsure where to look. Sometimes I find myself wondering whether my last resort is to try mainstream apps like Hinge or Bumble.

The days keep passing, time keeps moving quickly, and I feel like I’m running out of options. I don’t want to give up on my dream of having a loving marriage and family, but I honestly don’t know what the best next step is. What should I do?

Hyperacusis flare up every once in a long while

Hey guys
has anyone experienced this? So I go a period without any hearing sensitivity then there comes a period where my hearing gets really sensitive where I can't tolerate even very low noises and my ears start hurting but then it gets better and goes back to normal and stays for a long while then one day all of a sudden flares up. What's going on? If anyone has experienced this what do you usually do for it to get better?

Should I drop pharmacy school and get into radiography instead? (Australia)

Hey guys! :)
I'm a third year pharmacy student in Australia. It's a 4 year undergrad degree here. I'm finding the degree too dry, and difficult! It's literally lots of memorisation, and just very intense. I'm also finding myself not so interested in the work. I'm thinking about switching to a bachelor of medical radiation science. This then allows you to become a radiographer. Should I do this? What are your thoughts? I would appreciate any help and guidance 🩷

Hey guys :) I'm an Australian living in Australia!
I'm currently studying pharmacy to become a pharmacist. I'm currently in my third year of this 4 year degree. I'm half Iraqi half Iranian so I would prefer someone from either of those two countries. I wear the hijab appropriately. I’m looking for a life partner who is a genuinely good and respectful person, someone who has strong values and a sense of accountability to God. I value someone who truly respects and cherishes their life partner and sees them as a best friend as well as a spouse. I prefer a traditional man who dresses simply, cleanly, and modestly, rather than following trendy fashion. It’s important to me that he avoids haram actions and stays away from things that go against our beliefs. I also prefer someone who does not smoke or drink, and who tries to live a disciplined and principled lifestyle. I also do not like any tattoos. I value honesty and find it important to surround myself with people who are genuine, especially in relationships. I prefer someone with a university degree. I also want someone who has never been married before.

Age: 28
Origin/Ethnicity: Iraqi/Iranian
Languages spoken (with proficiency levels): English, Arabic, Persian
Level of religious practice: I do listen to music sometimes so I can't say I'm 100% religious due to this. Otherwise I don't do anything that goes against my religion. Alhamdulilah
Hijabi (F) (Yes/No): Yes
Current residence (city, country): Australia
Willing to relocate (if yes, please specify or 'anywhere'): I can't currently but willing to after completing my degree
Siblings (number and older/younger): None (only child)
Previously married/Kids: No
Occupation: Pharmacy student
Education: on my way to completing my bachelor degree :)
Height (cm), weight (kg) : Height: 160cm, weight 67
Physical appearance (specifics you think are important):

Leisure activities: Watching movies, reading a good book, exercising, baking. I love to travel as well.

My Preferences in a Partner:
Age range: 28-33
Origin/Ethnicity: Iraqi or Iranian
Languages: Arabic or persian or english
Level of religious practice: Should be close to atleast 90% religious.
Education: University degree
Deal breakers: Having tattoos, smoking, long hair
