How long did it take you to find a job after redundancy?

I was made redundant in early May so its been just over 3 months that I've been looking for work. I'm looking for Business Intelligence/Data anlayst type roles.

I've made about 55 applications and have had 4 interviews and one application where i got to the next stage and had to a paid task but didn't get beyond that unfortunately. I am receiving redundancy insurance payouts ( and JSA but that ends in November) each month and have had two so far, 10 months remaining. I'm thinking of giving myself until the 6th payment(December) to find a job in my field before i just start applying to anything.

How long has it taken people to find a job after being made redundant?

Masturbation with a stent

I had a stent fitted almost 4 weeks ago. Since then i’ve not had sex or masturbated but i feel like I’m starting to go mad. I have started having crazy dreams too, i’m sure it’s linked. There seems to be conflicting advice in this sub and generally on the internet.

I’m scared of causing pain of dislodging the stent. What are peoples thoughts?

Update: Done the deed and there was no problem, I feel a lot more chill now. Can't beleive i went 4 weeks with it!

Impact of managers

Was listening to Talksport (UK) the other day, Simon Jordan and Sean Dyche were discussing the impact that managers has. I agree with alot of things that Simon Jordan says but when it comes to managers im sure he thinks managers control players like they are playing a game of fifa.

He even claimed that elite managers have an "elite manager" gene or some nonsense. Dyche tried to make the arguement that quality of squad is hugely important which it is but then Jordan didn't quite agree and said that managers like Guardiola, Ancelloti and Tuchel have the "elite" gene and average managers (no one explicitly mentioned but assume he means like the likes of Dyche). This is a totally unfair comparison though as the likes of Dyche have never had an oppurtunity to manage elite squads so I find it Jordans logic really odd.

Jordan mentions the England Italy euro final where Southgate had a chance to change the game, thats an entirely reasonable arguement but what if he had gone more attacking and then got sucker punched on the counter and still end up losing.

Roberto Di Matteo has a champions league winners medal for example but I never hear him being called an elite manager. I don't think he is either i just had happen to think he had a great squad and they did enough to win the CL final. Likewise i beleive its a similar thing for all successful managers. If you don't have a great squad you aren't going to win. Yea you got the odd exception like a Greece or a Leicester but there are exceptions to every rule.

Modelling question - use of bi directional filtering

Hi All

Just wondered what peoples thoughts are on the following. I'm making a power bi dashboard based on a dataset from kaggle - TMDB movie database.

I have the following tables

MoviesDim 1 Genre field has multiple genres seperated by comma in one field e.g. Titanic - Drama,Romance so i had to make two new tables (GenreDim) and (GenreBridge) to handle this
MoviesFact 1
GenreDim
GenreBridge - Has MovieID and Genre
MoviesFact
Date

Relationships

GenreDim 1 > GenreBridge M
GenreBridge M <> MoviesDim not keen on using bi directional but i can't see any other way here
MoviesDim 1 <> MoviesFact 1 - this could be 1 table but i prefefer to keep the descriptive fields seperate
Date 1 > MoviesFact M

Is this the correct approach?

Edit : changed model as follows

GenreDim 1 > GenreBridge M
GenreBridge M <> MoviesFact not keen on using bi directional but i can't see any other way here
MoviesDim 1 <> MoviesFact 1 - this could be 1 table but i prefefer to keep the descriptive fields seperate
Date 1 > MoviesFact M

This guy doesn’t DAX

What do you think about this post? Guy thinks Power Bi can be learned in a few days, sure if you are just using putting a few visuals on a report with basic data.

Clearly he has never used DAX or power query.

Staff morale

Hi

I've been getting back into going cinema lately, my nearest is Greenwich. I notice the staff are quite miserable and make the minimum effort, not that i blame but heres the thing.

My wife went for an interview at this cinema with them when she was at college in the early 2000s, she said she had to auditition in one of the main screens infornt of senior management. Audition consisted of demonstrating excellent customer service with role plays ect. I assume staff these days are not hired on the result of an audition? I would be very surprised if they were.

Anyone got any insight?

Missed opportunity for new stadium to be used in world cup?

As a bill fan from London wouldn’t it have been a good use of the new stadium? Appreciate it might not be 100% ready but i’m sure they could have moved things along if they wanted it to be used.

Claiming on ASU policy and new style JSA

Hi

Hope this is the right sub to post in.

I was made redundant on 8th May with a 4 week notice period which i am not working. I have made a claim on my ASU policy and signed up for JSA as its a condition of the policy.

Insurance company replied saying they have received all evidence and now they are doing some third party checks and that there is a 30 day wait which takes me to 6th July but i can claim back to June 6th or there abouts. Anyway my question is, has anyone made a claim like this before and if so do you get the insurance payment plus the JSA payment or do you get your monthly payout - JSA payment?

E.g. my policy is set to payout 1962 a month but do they take the JSA payment of £360 a month into account and therefore i would get £1602 from insurance and JSA tops up the rest?

When to apply for JSA?

Hi

I was made redundant on Friday and I am not working my notice period.

I'm not sure whether to apply for JSA tomorrow or do i wait until i have received my final payment from work which would be 26th May, or do i need to wait until 4 weeks has elapsed since Friday? I have ASU insurance as well which i need to make a claim on and that says I must make a claim within 30 days of being made redundant, again i don't know when my "final" date is.

Any advice is appreciated.
