I need Shidou to put in work again, I’m desperate. I’m starving. I’m desperate AND starving. He hasn’t scored a single goal since NEL, and even that match he was constantly shut down. The only thing sustaining me is my other goat, Barou, always putting in work. Let my boy DO SOMETHING, PLEASE😭🙏

edit: England. Against England. I need sleep

What is your personal favorite way they have drawn/depicted Marc’s face? Mine was in the 2016 Lemire/Smallwood run.

A nitpick of mine is when some artists draw Mark a little too pretty or a little too young looking. I mean, Marc is supposed to be around late 30s to mid 40s (that’s of course run dependent, but even during the Moench run he should, at bare minimum, be at least 30). 2016 Marc is my favorite because it strikes a nice balance of being extremely handsome, while also showing a bit of his age. He’s got a rugged look, but not so much that he can’t clean up a bit as Steven.

That‘s also one of my praises for the Oscar Isaac casting. He looks the proper age of the character and looks experienced as well.

1943 penny that I thought for years was worth over $100k, turned out to be a normal penny

(CONTEXT: In 1943, regular copper pennies were temporarily replaced with steel Pennie’s because the U.S needed the copper during WW2. When producing these steel pennies, there was some copper still unknowingly in some of the machines, creating the 1943 copper penny on accident. They are RARE, as in there is only an estimated 20-40 of these that exist in the entire world levels of rare. Because of this, finding one of these is basically winning the lottery.)

When I was around 11 or 12, I was going through the change that was in my piggy bank and found this. I knew what a 1943 copper penny was because my grandpa had a small collection of rare coins and taught me what they were (he had some 1943 steel pennies). I was immediately ecstatic and conjured up plans of selling it when I was an adult. For about a third of my life, I thought I had a small safety net of money that I’d be able to fall back on. I never checked it because for one, I was a dumb kid, and two, it had just become a fact to me. I never questioned it because it was just a reality that existed in my life at that point.

Fast forward to today, where I’m now 18 and cleaning out some of my room, and I found it stashed in its usual spot. I hadn’t thought about it in a minute, so I googled it out of boredom. I found out that one of the ways to make sure it’s real is to test if it’s magnetic. If it’s magnetic, it’s either counterfeit or a 1943 steel penny that had aged to the point of looking like copper. I grabbed one of my magnets, and sure enough…😔

Kuruk in the afterlife watching Korra deal with the dark spirits without having to go through what he did:

Kuruk was probably happy as hell, smiling ear to ear, seeing Korra get through it without contracted evil spirit cancer like he did

Korra is really short for an avatar and I find that very funny

Korra is apparently around 5’7-5’9. I got curious and started digging into both the estimated and confirmed heights of the avatars, and apparently Wan reincarnated into a line of absolute giants😭

Aang: I keep tricking myself into thinking that adult Aang is short or average height, but both compared to Korra and most height estimates, dude’s like 6’3. Thats not even far fetched considering that Tenzin is tall too, around 6’1.

Roku: I was the most surprised by this one. Roku was fucking 6’8. I figured he was like 6 foot or something, but he’s taller than JoJo protagonist.

Kyoshi: Kyoshi

Kuruk: Mostly guess work, but he’s described as a pretty big and broad dude in Shadow of Kyoshi. Also, if we take this picture into account, he’s much taller than Yangchen, and she is also described as tall by Kyoshi.

Yangchen: While probably not as tall, she’s tall enough that Kyoshi mistook Yangchen for her mother (most likely Kyoshi’s height) for a moment or two. Not to mention that air nomads were very tall on average (Aang, Kyoshi’s mother/Kyoshi, Tenzin, Kelsang).

Szeto: Taking both Yangchen and Kuruk into account, and if the first picture is at all accurate, Szeto was tall as hell too.

Wan and Korra share the trait of being agonizingly average in height compared to the other avatars

Korra should’ve struggled with earthbending as well as airbending

So most avatars, whether in the shows or the books, tend to struggle with one particular element. Korra struggled with airbending, Aang struggled with earthbending, Roku struggled with waterbending, and Kyoshi (funny enough) struggled with earthbending. Save for Kyoshi, this was largely due to a clash in mindset they had with that element.

Mindset is half the battle with bending. Firebending is positive jing, offense. Airbending is negative jing, defense. Earthbending is neutral jing, neutrality until the right moment or until the other makes a move. Waterbending is (presumably) the fluidity between them. It makes perfect sense why Korra struggled with airbending, but I think her brashness should’ve caused her to struggle with earthbending as well, even if not to the same degree.

Earthbending requires you to be firm and resolute, like a rock, but it also needs patience. You need to listen to and feel the earth before you can move it. Toph was brash, but she always showed that discipline whenever she fought. She used her enemies‘ moves and terrain against them, often attacking in reaction to another’s attack. Not to mention King Bumi, THE neutral jing guy. Korra had toughness in spades, and while I think she would’ve been able to bend the element, she shouldn’t have been naturally gifted at the element AT ALL. I wouldn’t call season 1 Korra patient in any sense of the word.

Aang didn’t have the same block with firebending the way he did with earthbending, but he wasn’t exactly a natural at it either. He was extremely hesitant about its offensive nature (largely from hurting Katara, but I doubt he would’ve excelled at it even if that didn’t happen). He was only able to firebend well after he learned to fuel it with drive instead of anger and aggression(which he didn’t have a lot of). In this same way, Korra should have had a similar struggle with the earthbending style itself. She would be able to bend earth, but incorrectly. Like she would fuel to much aggression into an element that requires some form of patience. As if she was wielding a sword the way you would a hammer: sure, your getting it done, but your also completely doing it wrong and severely sloppy.

Guys, considering my track record, should I hold off on investing in Simitar so I don’t curse them?

Horikoshi sexualized the teenagers in his manga, and gave the shittiest excuses as to why.

Let’s take Momo and Hagakure (Invisible Girl) for example. Momo‘s hero costume is extremely revealing because ‘her quirk requires exposed skin. Hagakure, a hero who is gonna be in dangerous and hazardous environments over the course of her career, is buck booty naked because she can’t make her clothes invisible. Sure, yeah, these are IN UNIVERSE reasons for why these teenage girls are exposed, but that doesn’t work as an excuse not n Horikoshi’s part.

I see people act as if these reasons forced Horikoshi to draw them like this. As if ‘poor Horikoshi’ HAD to make these girls half/fully naked because of their quirks. Like, no gang, Horikoshi WROTE the reasons. The only reason Momo and Hagakure are half/fully naked is because Horikoshi chose to write them this way. You don’t get to excuse him with the in universe explanations that HE WROTE. The only reason Momo can’t create stuff through clothes and Hagakure can’t turn clothes invisible is because Horikoshi wanted it that way.

While I’m at it, Toga is just as bad. She can recreate the CLOTHES of the people she transforms into, but NAH, she can’t transform her own clothes! That‘s stupid! She ‘has’ to get naked in order for her quirk to function!😑

Not to mention that the second Mirio was introduced, these excuses jumped out the fucking window. Mirio‘s quirk makes him phase through solid objects, and he still gets to be clothed because his suit is made from his hair. Hagakure’s hair turns invisible, why can’t she have a hair costume? What about Momo and Toga? No hair costumes for them either. Horikoshi made multiple teenage girl characters that had to be exposed because of their powers, but the moment a guy is introduced with the same issue, he’s given a work around for it.

It‘s stupid that I keep seeing these excuses get flung around for Hori as if he isn’t the one that wrote his own manga.

Batman is not a “Jack of all trades”, and I’m tired of pretending that he is

Every time I see someone talk about how Batman is annoyingly good at everything, I always see someone say that he is a “jack of all trades”. They keep using that phrase, but I don’t think it means what they think it means.

Sure, there are people better than Batman in certain categories (i.e. combat, strategy, intelligence, engineering, science), but Batman is almost always top 10 in each. That’s not a ”master of none”, that’s a “master of everything among other masters”. If there are characters entirely dedicated to being master martial artists or a super-genius, and Batman is still better than them, that’s telling.

Even if there are characters better than Batman at certain things, rarely would that even matter. The point of a character being a master of none is that you can best them at one skill, but they have others to fall back on. They aren’t particularly great at anything, but are so versatile that it makes them great. With Batman, if they are a better fighter, they are a near superhuman anomaly. Smarter? Near superhuman anomaly. Detective? Near superhuman anomaly. Shit, if someone was a better cook than Batman they’d be an anomaly too at this point.

He has mastered 127 martial art forms, has the ability to engineer tech beyond what most characters can ever accomplish, stated on multiple occasions to be one of the smartest men on the planet, has strategic prowess so great it comes across as precognition half the time, a master at forensics and on top of everything is the “Worlds Greatest Detective”. Like, are we looking at the same character here?

I’m sick and tired of seeing this defense whenever the topic comes up. By definition, Batman isn’t a jack of all trades, and even if he was, he certainly doesn’t function as one.
