Favorite Legends of the Dark Knight story?

Man I absolutely love pretty much every LotDK story from the first 100ish issues (minus flyer) so it’s a difficult question for me. but I’m wondering what people one here think.

if I had to pick one I’d personally say “Prey” but some of my other favorites are “gothic”, “faces”, and “engines”.

Gotham City: Year One is amazing.

As someone who is not a fan of Tom Kings Batman at all it sad to me how little this book is discussed. It’s an incredible Noir detective story that follows PI Slam Bradley decades before Bruce was born, as he uncovers a conspiracy involving Bruce’s grandparents. It far and away the most “noir” Gotham has ever been, it has the vibe of “double indemnity” and “sunset boulevard” if they were set in Gotham.

I know a lot of people are down on Tom Kings writing but man this is one of his best books and the art is fantastic. It makes me hope Phil Hester draws a main Batman run in the future.

If you have not checked this out it gets a deluxe edition in August and imo is a must read Gotham City story.

Did you know Batman's middle school teacher was a 300 year old monk with immortality who became a child serial killer?

I just find it funny when there's lore details like this most people don't know about. "Gothic" is a great story though, you should check it out if you haven't.

What do you think of Paul Dini's Hush stories?

I am a certified Jeph Loeb hater when it comes to Batman. Especially Hush. The character in that original story is so lame and bland. But the character gets too much hate in my opinion just based off that first book. Paul Dini's stories really fleshed him out imo and gave us the definitive Hush interpretation. His motivations and hate for Bruce actually made sense in their own twisted way in these stories. But I dont see these books talked about as much. What do you think of them?

In your opinion, what is the best/most disturbing Batman "Horror" story? (doesn't have to be one of these)

What is the general consensus on “City of Crime”?

Finished recently and I have real mixed feelings about it. I have also seen discourse online about this with some people absolutely loving it and some hating it. Overall I’d say the first half is pretty strong and the second half is pretty weak. The initial vibe of this story is great and it feels like a real detective mystery. I actually think Court of owls took a lot of ideas from this book. But man it turns way too confusing and supernatural towards the end and the tone completely switches.

It does have by far the most terrifying version of Mr. Freeze I have come across though.

I’d probably say 6.5/10

Remaining Batman Post-Crisis Volumes

I have seen a few custom mappings on this sub before but never the whole thing, and now that we know LotDK will likely be excluded, and SotB included its easier to predict what will and wont be collected here.

Any stories that take place in the LotDK era were excluded under the assumption they will be collected in that line, with the exception of "Full Circle" as it was a sequal to Year Two, which was collected in the main line.

Also note "City of Crime" was broken up by the "War Crimes" crossover making for a confusing reading experience. So I moved the post "War Crimes" issues of that arc up to make the arc uninterrupted. I know this is atypical of DC Finests but it keeps that arc in one volume and uninterrupted and allows Winnick's full Red Hood saga to be in a single volume as well, alongside War Crimes.

I probably missed a couple super obscure one-shots or minis from the 90s or early 00s so let me know if you spot any absences

Question about Batman Line.

Now that we know the main Line will include Shadow oof the Bat do you think we can expect Gotham Knights and Streets of Gotham to be included when they get there? Or do you think they will be omitted? I think if they are included, then we can expect Confidential in the LotDK line, assuming it gets made.

Can you name all the Ghosts in this panel?

Having different artists makes keeping track of whose who a little more difficult especially if a character died 100 issues ago and hasn't been seen again until now as a ghost.

I obviously recognize a few but some of these I feel like I have never seen before at all, did he just draw some random extra people or is the art just making it hard.

First Appearance of Victor Zsasz (Shadow of the Bat #2)

Thought it was fitting to share this among the new rumors about the movie. Personally I think Sebastian Stan could totally pull off a really convincing Zsasz.

Morality of the Police in "Minority Report"

Basically in this movie their are people called "precogs" who can see the future and the Police arrest people based on crimes they would commit in the future, the essentially punish people who have never committed a crime because they would have later.

Would you want to see a Bond movie where he works a mission with a team of spies instead of solo?

I liked the first light missions where you are interacting with a team in the field throughout and would like to see a 007 movie more like that. Obviously the main focus would still be on Bond but I think it would be fun to see him working with other spies more. Maybe have them all die one by one over the course of the film until its just him and the Bond Girl at the end.

Mapping out a possible Hellblazer line

My all time favorite comic run, here is how I would map it.

Does Azerello’s run get better?

I’ve really liked every issue so far but ever since Azerello took over this comic has turned into the cringiest edgelord garbage that doesn’t even seem to care about the stories that came before. Hard Time was alright but still a step down from most previous arcs and I just finished the arc where he fucks a dog and it makes me want to just skip to the next writer, it was just awful. Is there anything coming up in this run that makes it necessary or can I just skip to Mike Carey’s run?
