Idiot comes to the cash till nearby where I am standing in ACO (Assisted Self-Checkouts). Unfortunately, there are NO regular full-service checkouts open due to the lack of adequate staffing. Also there are NO signs anywhere showing or indicating that cash is accepted at ACO. Almost all customers assume it is credit and debit card 💳 payments accepted only…so it is a common ANNOYANCE that the attendants get repeatedly asked “do these things take cash?” And the way the cash tills are set up, the attendant has to take the payment the same way as it’s done at a regular full-service cash till. It’s not the usual setup with the machine taking the money same idea as a vending machine, attendant has to take the money. Anyway, I help this fool after being asked if cash is accepted, and he banters away thinking he is Mr. Hilarious saying “yeah and there’s a special discount for paying cash today, right?”…I ignore that because well…why should that get a reaction??? He pauses and says again…”Right?”…and I glance quickly making sure it was him asking and I simply replied “Nope”. Then he shuffles around in his pockets looking for change and manages to count it out and pay. But wow! Just when I think I have seen and heard just about all the stupidity, morons show up and manage to top it.

Getting assigned to Lumber Checkouts, I have had a few upsetting instances of very inappropriate behavior and conduct by customers. This ranges from them verbally abusing each other and near fist-fights in line to taking a loaded cart full of items to be paid for belonging to someone else and emptying it and using it for themselves. Then the customer returns and confronts the customer that took their cart and called them out. I’ve seen teenagers behave more maturely! And the back and forth continued with bystanders appalled enough for me to get the MOD called via First Phone! Didn’t matter much though as once they got there they did nothing to solve any problems as the idiots moved along but not without shouting back and forth with name-calling and foul language!

I guess what I am saying here is this; I wasn’t hired to have to put up with this kind of nonsense! I was hired to be a cashier and no where in that job description does it state having to tolerate boorish behavior from people! Especially grown men who are supposed to be at work and in the store on work time and in some cases wearing uniforms identifying themselves as being affiliated with a company! Looks very poorly on said company when their employees don’t conduct themselves properly in public.

This is just disgusting!

I’m just venting here but at the same time I’m wondering if this is a common thing with Home Depot stores and it’s ignored and inadvertently tolerated by management mostly because the company doesn’t want to lose the sales and the business regardless how of the clientele conduct themselves…?

I have many, many years of prior retail experience and never in all my time did I ever work in a store environment so toxic and for a company that is so lenient and tolerant of inappropriate behavior and conduct by customers!!
Any insight with regard to this matter would be great to hear. Also, I’m not anticipating any rude or disrespectful comments that aren’t conducive to the discussion topic at hand. If you don’t like this, please scroll on.

This woman could not and would not take NO for an answer!! She approached me as I was shopping in the Kingsway Mall location in Edmonton AB and spewed the usual nonsense rhetoric that goes with credit card application spiels! No exaggeration whatsoever she asked me 4 times to apply and attempted to talk circles around me and I said no all 4 times! She even went as far as to try to coerce me to just hand over my drivers license ID to her so she could take the information off it to input into that iPad she was holding!! Sleazy and extremely disrespectful and inappropriate!!
Fair warming for anyone who shops at the Kingsway Mall location…be on the lookout for an Indian woman wearing glasses with long dark hair wearing a sweater with an embroidered PC Financial logo…run fast, run far!! And most importantly, take your business elsewhere!!

This NEVER seems to happen at the store I work at! I only know of one ASM and it was because he took another job within the company working at the Distribution Warehouse for this store’s area and district. Other than that, no one has moved in or transferred out. I find this strange as corporate tends to like to keep their managers moving and not letting them become too comfortable and/or complacent in their job roles.
I’m thinking this may be dependent on the needs of the business, job role promotions and the like. And maybe even district management has say and initiative about this.
I’d love to see some new managers; different ideas and perspectives make for keeping the store innovative and productive and keeping customers interested.

How is this being tolerated and seemingly overlooked??? Has even been reported to HR multiple times at store level, district manager level and AWARELINE!!
Just why? How does this happen and how is it ok with this company?! A company that goes on and on about the importance of values and doing the right thing…I just don’t get it!!
I know NEPOTISM is BIG at this store location in particular…but for the complaints that went as far as the Awareline and nothing has been done as the DS behavior and conduct hasn’t changed!!!
This is insane and unacceptable!!
I’m seriously looking for sincere insight and reasons for this company to be tolerating this behavior from this individual!! Belittling people, bullying and making associates cry on the sales floor, in the washroom and even the staff lounge?!
Values?! Doing the right thing?! Definitely not!! 😠
