What’s Going On Here?

For those more experienced than me…is this normal leaf growth? Does it need help? Is it pregnant with twins??

Not sure what to do with my white wizard. Thank you.

Very gentle touch confirmed it’s still firm, not slimy etc. please tell me she’s not aborting my first new leaf with this little beauty. Thanks all.

Well…How’d I Do?

So this is my first anthurium and of course I had to complicate things by transferring my-my-my-my Michele to Monk Pon right outta the gates. I’m a newbie to semi hydro too so just wondering how the root cleaning looks? Am I cooked?

It’s only the 3rd plant I’ve moved to semi hydro and the others were so recent I don’t even know how I did yet. Thanks!

Why Is My Thai Con Doing This?

Hey all. So I got this monstera Thai Constellation about a month ago. Was in the process of throwing a beautiful new leaf. It’s working on the next one now.

Today I noticed the newest leaf curling upwards towards the tip. I read it’s usually from stress, specifically might be from drying out too much.

I’m a chronic overwaterer and I’ve been working on that. I’m especially afraid of root rot in this guy and my mint. So maaaaaybe I let it get too dry before previous water a couple days ago but I honestly don’t believe so. This is a southwest facing corner. Lots of afternoon bright light filtered through the sheer curtain. I fertilize pretty much every water with Purived liquid fertilizer at about half rate. I also add a little humic acid and some microbes.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance my good plant people.

Young Buck Attacks Coyote

Yesterday over the backyard fence we watched what we thought was a curious young buck checking out another deer only to realize it was a coyote. The coyote appeared to be feeding on something. Probably a ground squirrel. The young buck used the distraction of a good meal to sneak in and eventually charge to coyote.

Sorry for the shaky video. I climbed up on a table for a better view.

Recommendations on Sulcata Heating Outdoors

Our 6-7 y/o Sulcata Rusty “Big Russ” started digging a hole in his house. No problem. But now he went from a ceramic heater keeping half his house at 90-95 degrees to a long burrow that ends nowhere near the heat lamp.

Should I…?

  1. leave it as is. If he wants heat he’ll lay under it and if he doesn’t he’ll go in his tunnel?

  2. remove the heat because he’s now using a burrow to regulate his temp?

  3. add a heat mat to the storage bin next door since the floor of the storage bin is now the roof of his burrow? To keep his burrow warm at night?

For reference I’m in coastal California. Essentially Mediterranean climate but in the winter it can be down in the 40s at night. Thanks in advance my fellow torters.

ID Help

Hi succulent Reddit. I hope to one day contribute here but in the meantime as a newbie could you good folks help ID a few of the beauties my wife and I picked up recently? Pic 1 gets a light pink in the new growth when it’s getting more light. Thank you.

Can Someone Help ID?

Just getting home from our favorite succulent greenhouse. Can someone tell me what I have in this 6” pot? There was only one left. Thank you!

My wife and I are new to succulents. I was wondering from experienced growers…how long would this planter take from a small plant? Also on a 1-10 scale how difficult is it to shape this like these?

We went to a food truck park in San Francisco before a Giants game and I was kinda blown away how nice their planters looked. There were dozens of pots like this all looked just as nice.

We adopted an adult redfooted tortoise and so far he only will touch grass, banana, watermelon, dog poo🤦🏻‍♂️, melon/cantaloupe. He’s active but not a very strong eater and super picky. Won’t touch any greens. What will your redfoot eat?
