Interesting info on the new HKSV 4K Spec

https://developer.apple.com/download/files/HomeKit-Secure-Video-Open-Source-Compatibility-Guide.pdf

Spec is now open. It’s publicly available where previously it was available to developers.

H.265 / HEVC is now Mandatory / Bitrates are higher (based on HEVC)

Optional highest tier for cameras that can support a 4k and 2k steam concurrently (it will would fall back to 2k instead of 1080p)

It’s not fully based on the matter 1.5.1 specification but does pull from it including the use of Web RTC (no pan and tilt controls) and cameras can advertise multiple lenses which means manufacturers are going have to support this new HomeKit spec as well as Matter instead of just Matter :(

New recording pipeline (should help with missed events)

Existing spec will remain active so no change for current HKSV cameras.

This means manufacturers will have to update existing cameras to meet this spec which seems unlikely unless it’s easy as they’ll want to push new hardware. It would be great to see 2k or 4k cameras updated if possible, but older cheap stuff won’t have HEVC support so who knows.

Hush jet mini constantly flashing when plugged in??

This doesn’t correlate to what’s in the manual. The small light on the back is also not lit up and it’s been on charge overnight on a high power charger so is full.

I’ve performed the factory reset but no different.

The unit works fine though.

Anyone else seeing this?

Make it stop…

They really want that subscription money… the fact you can’t use your own sim anymore in Google cars is a joke.

Anyone else getting constant unwanted motion notifications from cameras? (One hub / many camera setup)

I’ve setup a new home for a friend but it’s HomePod mini only so it can’t keep up with all the camera feeds so timelines have lots of ‘?’ Over the clips which is fine and expected behaviour.

But there seems to be a bug in which we’re getting spammed with generic camera motion notifications even though the cameras are set to only record and notify for people and pets as well as the cameras ignoring motion zones.

After digging around I found this Apple Community thread describing basically the exact same issue:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/255849824?sortBy=rank

Has anyone else experienced this?

I don’t want to have to add another hub as it seems like a bug.

PSA: Support can update the P2 Thread sensors and they work well

You get most of the promised features from years ago (programmable button / tamper alarm is still missing). The motion sensor is also much more responsive. Unsure why they pulled it months ago.

The Picea robot review…

‘Dyson wouldn’t share which “partner” (original design manufacturer, or ODM) it worked with’…. lol

Based on the review that it didn’t actually identify any stains:

‘We have a whole roadmap of over-the-air update improvements, including behavior adjustments that adjust how it cleans,” he said, adding they should be coming this summer.’

🙃

Tenant told by council to stay put and long it out as long as possible and will only help them when they are evicted. Councils are a disgrace for doing this. What’s the easiest and cheapest way to get them out. TIA!
