Looking for help - thrown weapon investigator

Hello all. I'll be starting Hellbreakers next week and I could really use some help with putting together a PC. To start, here are the parameters of the campaign and what I'm looking for:

  • Standard 1st level / 15 gp start.
  • The table is running with both FA and GAB as optional rules.
  • Common and Uncommon are OK. Rare requires GM approval; let's stick to the first two for simplicity.
  • I'd like to play a Palatine Detective who uses thrown weapons in the knife category, such as daggers, throwing knives, star-knives, etc.
  • FA can be used for any Palatine Detective archetype feats.
  • I'd also appreciate suggestions for magic items to purchase, like returning runes and thrower's bandolier.

I'm a pretty experienced PF2E player but as more and more gets added to the system, I'm finding it's getting a bit overwhelming. Ideally a PC that's throws knives, has spells for backup in case DaS is low, and maybe spells to help reinforce the investigative bit.

Quick Question about Dawn of the Frogs

I recall reading that DotF was designed to allow you to segue into another AP (similar to Rusthenge and Return of the Runelords). Which AP is that?

Hand crossbow reloading question

Of all the crossbows, the hand crossbow is unusual in that it's listed as being one-handed. However, you still need two hands to load it.

The rules in PF2 for hand usage are pretty strict - so if I've got a shield in my off-hand, I'd still need to release my hand (free action), use it to reload (Interact action), fire (Attack action), and then grasp my shield again (Interact action)? That seems really punishing for a mediocre one-handed weapon.

Am I missing something?

Thrown weapon build

Yes, it's been asked before, but I haven't seen any recent posts about it (if I missed them, I apologize).

I am making a replacement PC. Will be coming in at 13th level, using Mythic rules and FA, so lots of latitude on a build.

Class, feat, and gear suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Please help.

At the start of last month, I came back to the game after being away for almost 10 years. I started the Standard ladder and played a basic rogue deck, not meta, before switching to a control priest deck. I got to trash legend, the first time ever. I was pleased but my expectations for the May season were modest. I didn't expect to repeat the performance but figured maybe I could get to high gold/low platinum again.

On May 1st I logged into start the next season, and I have not been able to win a single game. Not one. Thirty-three losses in a row. I've tried multiple decks from Hearthpwn of whichever ones I can build, and I just cannot land a win. I can't even land one through a random disconnect or playing bots or something.

I walked away from the game for a week because I was getting so frustrated and hoped maybe as the better players advanced up the ladder it might leave space for less-able players, but nothing has changed.

Did something break in the matchmaking system? At this point I should have won a game out of sheer dumb luck if nothing else, but I am getting trounced - the games aren't even close.

Helpful comments appreciated - please no "git gud" replies.

I start a job in Didcot this week and will be taking the 10 Bus to The Plains before transferring to the ST1 for the rest of the trip.

I usually buy a weekly CityZone pass for local travel on the Oxford Bus app. This won't cover the ST1 to Didcot, though.

I looked on the Oxford Bus site for ticket information and because ST1 is operated by Stagecoach I'm unsure what combination of zones I need to get. SmartZone doesn't seem to include Stagecoach.

Is it CityZone and CountryZone maybe?

Any help appreciated.

Last year I had to leave the US and needed to rehome my cat, named Diego. Since moving to England, I miss him terribly. I had hoped to keep in touch with his new humans to see how he was doing and maybe get the occasional photo of him. Unfortunately, the shelter's policy was not to allow former owners to communicate with the adopters.

As stated, his name is Deigo. He would be about 3 years old now, I believe. He would have been adopted from the Lancaster Pet Pantry in June 2025.

If you're that adopter or know them - could you please reach out? Anything would be appreciated.

Pet photo tax paid in full below.
