Goal achieved! One landing pad worth of all 16 items, sustained. (Sector 229)

I’ve been trying to go way overboard on production in each sector I conquer, for no other reason than my own personal obsession with it. This is the first sector that I’ve managed to produce enough of all 16 items to be able to fully supply at least one landing pad of each. And it still produces all 16 items to the core as well.

This is on iPhone, I usually play while riding the subway.

Low cost remote machine for dabbling in programming experiments with AI agents?

I’m an old-school developer (C++ mostly) who generally doesn’t have a lot of free time for side projects. I don’t even have a desktop machine at home, just laptops for when I have to remote in to work or write up a word doc.

I’ve begun to get more interested in doing some experimentation with AI outside of work, but I want to start without buying any new machine for myself and without too many monthly subscriptions.

So I figure I need some machine on the cloud that stays alive if the agent is working and I’m disconnected, but isn’t charging me 24/7 for when the agent isn’t working on anything either.

Any recommendations? I’m not too worried about being able to scale it up to something production-level. I’m not married to any workflow yet. Don’t have a specific project in mind. Probably would be working with C++, Python, probably a web front end for the projects.

Basically the goal is to have a sandbox and only pay for what I use (maybe a small monthly fee or two) so I can dabble with my minimal free time and not feel the need to find a way to generate income from it.

Question about keeping a mortgage after moving out

Not currently in this situation, but I am curious about it, especially given some of the questions that come up on this sub.

If you get a mortgage for a primary residence, I’m sure that is usually stipulated as a condition of the mortgage somewhere. So what happens in practice if later they move out and decide to rent the place out?

My impression is that it’s near impossible for the lender to call on a performing mortgage, and likely wouldn’t want to make it a problem until it’s actually a problem. Or do they have fees they can slap you with?

Basically if someone has one of these low rate covid mortgages, is it bad advice to suggest renting it out instead of selling when they want to move? (Aside from all the inherent risks of landlording)

What’s the right tool for taking a little off the end of a board

I’m a pretty regular user of my hand saw for cutting a board to length, usually doing a baseboard or door casing, simple trim work when I’m not doing enough volume for it to be worthwhile setting up the big power miter saw.

With the miter saw, if I come up a 1/16” too long, I can just chop it a hair shorter, but I’m not quite skilled enough with the hand saw to do a straight cut when the kerf goes off the edge of the board, or just leaves a fragile sliver behind.

What do you all tend to do in that case? I mean “measure better” of course. Do you plane the end? Is there a right plane to use? Does it make a difference on oak vs pine (usually pine)
