Need a simple laptop for my parents

I’ve only used MacBooks for the past 15 years with my parents usually taking my old device.

It’s time for them to get a new one but we don’t want to drop so much on a MacBook when all they do is watch YouTube, keep notes, and basic files like pdfs or word docs.

What should I get under $800 for them? I’m so accustomed to MacBooks now that I really don’t have a clue whether Dell, HP, Asus, Samsung or any others are good lol thank you!

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

$800 USD

Are you open to refurbs/used?

NEW only

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

Battery life, performance, build quality

How important is weight and thinness to you?

Lighter and thinner the better

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

16”

*Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

NO

* **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?**

NO

* **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?**

 None

Adding to the other post about the map being gone - user created collections still show a map but Yelp’s pre-set bookmarks don’t have a map anymore?

That makes ZERO sense why they would remove the map here. I hope this is temporary and Yelp brings it back

Can people access my shared guide without creating an account to follow changes?

Like the title says - I created a guide to share but people can only access it if they create a canva account. Is there a way they can view it like a PDF without a canva account so they can use the same link if I make changes to it?

Any word on Psy SummerSwag 2026 schedule or tickets yet?

I’ve been checking non stop and haven’t even found a website or outlet that has info on when to expect it, am I not looking in the right places? Thank you

I watched all the Harry Potter movies for the first time since DH Part 2 was released, and . . .

Wow.

I mean . . . Wow.

A quick about me: I’ve been a life long Star Wars fan and grew up with the prequels, I go to Star Wars celebration, have Star Wars tattoos, meet the actors, collect the collectibles . . .

Rewatching Star Wars doesn’t make me feel what *Harry Potter* just did. I would say I’ve always been a casual fan of the HP movies (haven’t read the books yet) and always enjoyed them.

But upon my rewatch of the entire series within a 3 day span. . . There’s a certain *magic* that these films still emit just the same way they started to some 25 years ago.

From the very moment we start seeing Harry encounter his magical abilities to Harry himself being amazed at every new trick and secret he finds along his way. The quidditch, the talking paintings, running through the wall to platform 9 3/4, the charms and chants and spells and brews . . . I love it all

That’s all lol

Looking to book a hotel through capital one travel and the description page reads

*Nonrefundable. You are entitled to free cancellation for 24 hours after booking. If you choose to change or cancel this booking after this 24 hour window, you will not be refunded any of the payment*

Yet when you choose the room type, this is what it shows:

*fully refundable by hotel before [date] +$0*

So… is it refundable or not after the 24 hour booking window?
