Should I learn Cantonese or Mandarin?

My family speaks a mix of Cantonese and Sze Yap. They never taught me or my siblings how to speak because they thought it would be too difficult, so instead, they enrolled us in Mandarin classes.

The thing is, I haven't learnt or had the chance to speak mandarin in years, since I know nobody that speaks it. I was thinking of learning another language again because I want to, but unsure of which one.

If I pick mandarin, more people speak that and I think I'd be able to get around easier. If I pick Cantonese, I could speak with my family. Which one should I choose?

My school told EVERYONE I had issues at home.

A few years ago, we had a high school assembly in the hall. It was an unprompted awards ceremony, so most people didn't know they were getting awards. Most of these were academic or performance related.

I was never told I would be receiving an award either, so I never expected to.

Keep in my my whole year group of 400 people were also there in the hall. The students were separated by those getting an award and those who weren't.

For some reason me and my classmate were pulled aside from the award recipients and the students who weren't receiving awards. We were confused because the teachers wouldn't tell us why they did that or what was happening. They only told us to wait.

Finally, they called up my classmate sitting next to me, and then they called up my name.

We both walked up on stage with all eyes, lights, and cameras pointing up at us.

They wanted to surprise us with one last award: The Wellbeing Award.

They announced to the ENTIRE year group that this award was presented to students who faced extreme hardship, had issues, struggles, and difficulties at home and at school, but still showed up to school every day.

I was given a pity award in front of my high school. They announced to the WHOLE year that I had issues. They didn't even give us the option to let us know about it and refuse it. I was humiliated. I was laughing because I didn't think it was real. My friends and classmates were staring. Everyone was staring. My business was announced to everyone.

I still try to forget about this daily. I still see everyone at school treating me differently. I feel so alone.

Downstairs neighbour making a noise complaint in the middle of the day, but nobody is even talking?

My family have been living in this apartment for years, with no complaints from any of our other neighbours except him. He is the ONLY neighbour that ever complains.

This time i'm just so confused on how I can deal with this issue.

Today, at exactly 1:50 pm, I put on the Truman Show (1998) for the first time, on my laptop, cause I was bored and wanted to watch something. I put it at 25% of the maximum laptop volume, (not even on the television cause he can apparently hear that), because I was aware he never liked to hear anything.

Fair warning, we are a family of four, while he is just one person. So we are bound to make noise.

We never complained whenever he made noise, however, as he has been known to be an alcoholic and we keep hearing him yell about his life downstairs.
My family has been scared of this neighbour as he is big and intimidating,

Not even 5 minutes into the movie he comes up to yell and complain about shouting. I apologised and tried to check the apartment to see where this noise could come from, then I went to continue watching my movie at 10% volume.

I also checked and my brother is the only other person in the house right now, and he was watching a different movie listening to it on his headphones.

At exactly 17 minutes and roughly 54 seconds into the movie, he comes up again to complain for a second time. Now he keeps yelling at me and insulting my family. I don't know if anyone else has watched the full movie, but I don't even think it's loud. However, I've completely turned it off.

I just don't know if I'm being delusional and rude, but I don't understand how I can make the noise go away. Even so, I it's not like it's midnight? I don't know. Any advice appreciated, thank you.

My ADVO against my Dad is about to expire.

I've had the ADVO in place for nearly two years, and it is about to expire. I don't know if I can mentally handle going through court again to get it extended. Is there possibly any other way I can do this?

"Obsession" (2026) by Curry Barker was perhaps the most accurate, and triggering portrayals of abuse, control, and trauma.

Spoilers Ahead for the film.

I just watched this film a few days ago, and I just spent the whole time, feeling like certain aspects of my life were somehow summed up in under two hours.

The way these abusers feel no remorse or sympathy for the victims they actual harm, rather feeling so self centred. Oh my god.

I relate to the victim, Nikki, in a lot of ways, and I think it has been interesting seeing the perspectives of others without similar experiences having their takes on it.

Mum told me to go to hell. Who do I even talk to?

I'm just sick and tired of being a burden to everyone I know.

I feel like nobody understands what is going on with my life. I don't even understand what is happening with me. It's like I'm not even here. I can't even remember most of my life.

People look at me funny whenever I tell them a sliver of what I've been through.

I have nobody to talk to. I feel so lonely.
