What are the soft mod and hard mod options that are currently the standard.

I recently traded an SNES I cleaned up and recapped for 2 original Xbox consoles. They have problems currently but I intend to fix them and mod them so I can change things like the ide drive. I want the mod to do things like the ability to backup my DVD games to the HDD and the ability to swap drives. Some games I have I thought I could play on my 360 but they aren't backwards compatible. (Blinx and it's sequel)

A few of my CRTs in action

  1. Samsung Celebrity playing pong

  2. Apple monochrome monitor playing choplifter

  3. HP VGA monitor connected to my XP machine playing fallout 3

  4. Emerson 20" childhood TV playing my NES

Not pictured is my 5" action 5 CRT TV, and I have 2 all in ones if they count in the form of a PPC eMac and a Macintosh LC 575.

Not bad for 1977. I'm thinking of going the route to get a FreHD or maybe acquire the expansion interface to connect to gotek in the future.

What are some Sega Saturn games you guys like or recommend?

I was gifted this system and monitor for helping clean and fix someone's home who needed the help. I'm very excited to use it. I love monochrome composite monitors. They are so crisp and clear vs color composite.

Care to guess why this doesn't boot up and fails onboard diagnostics? It rhymes with spam.

I seriously hate the ram in these. In the removal process of the memory I damaged a capacitor that I have to replace now. Not to mention I accidentally ripped a via and pulled a trace too between u 28, u29 and u30 that I will need to patch. It's still fixable. I really need a better desolder technique. Those suckers aren't as good as a vacuum pump. As for removing all the ram, I was planning to socket them all for future repairability.

Received a broken NES for free. A deep cleaning and replaced the damaged caps from a quarter being stuck inside the machine, it works once more.

My haul I got while in Austin for a Lords of Acid concert

Everything worked when I got home except the Atari 130xe. The onboard diagnostics showed good ROM but I have a few RAM failures in the first 64k of ram so it won't boot. Ordered 128k of memory to fix it.

I always take the opportunity to go find CRTs to save from the trash. The Emerson TV to the far right I bought new in the 2000s when I was a teen

Tandy Color 3 dual screens.

Loaded up my copy of zaxxon on my Tandy 3 using the RF for my Samsung CRT TV and composite on my led tv. Just thought it would be funny. I can do this with my Atari 800 too. I haven't tried on my commodore 64c but most likely that will work too.

[Sega CD model 2] Boots to black screen unless the CD drive is disconnected

I checked the fuses, all the caps look fine. No evidence of bulges or leakage. The ribbon cable has conductivity through it. Cleaned connectors with ribbon cable. The disc will not even attempt to spin. Anyone have an idea of what could cause the black screen when the drive is connected?

So I had this C64c for a little over the year. I only played games on cartridges. Well recently I got a pi1541. It made sense to me given that I also own a Vic 20 and plus/4. Well the device worked wonderfully but my 64c would give me an error about device not found or device not present. So someone suggested I get the debug cartridge and harness. The dead test was good, the debug cart test and harness was not. It told me that my CIA chips were bad. But that didn't make sense given how everything else was working. It told me that the userport, cassette, and serial weren't functional. With help of my wife she and I looked over some circuits and she suggested that I try testing some diodes. In testing I found 2 diodes that were blown. Cr9 and cr13. I replaced them and double tested the diodes outside the circuit to make sure I'm not getting a false reading and they were still bad. Once I replaced them the test came back positive and now all ports of my 64c work.

This my Intellivision II. However I have the ECS"entertainment computer module" that allowed you to use your console as a computer with its own basic interpreter and routines to save and load data to cassettes. The very end is the "system changer" which allowed Mattel to play and use Atari 2600 cartridges it's major competition in the home market.

So my C64c board revision 250466 has worked for me for about a year since I had it. I recently got a pi1541. I normally play cartridge games but wanted to try disk games. When I try to use it I get no device found. I know the pi1541 works as I used it with my plus/4 and Vic 20. The testing harness said cia 1 and 2 failed and that I don't have the cassette port working either. I'm skeptical of the CIA since everything else appears to be working perfect. I tried putting a multimeter to the diodes on the board. Im seeing that cr9 and cr13 are completely open no matter how I check polarity. Would this be a good indication that those diodes could be causing my issue or does anyone have an idea of what else I can check before I go trying to desolder components.
