More iX questions from someone shopping...

  • Are 21" wheels/tires going to be noticeably better-riding and/or less damage-prone than the 22"? Generally I like the look of the 22" designs better. Other pros/cons? Guessing 21s will be cheaper to replace tires.

  • I know the built-in nav map can display on the driver display. Can Android Auto map display on driver display?

  • What type of info displays on the HUD (if optioned)?

  • Pre-conditioning the cabin - I understand this can be scheduled for say 445pm every work day. What happens if I run late at work that day, will it turn off automatically after XX minutes, or would I need to remember to do it manually?

Frustrating dealer responses for CPO iX

Thanks to everyone who replied to my other post about suggested options and other questions. Now that I'm starting to reach out to dealers in and out of state - holy cow is it frustrating. I send a message asking 3 or 4 questions and only get a response asking when I will come in. I know that's part of the game, but if you can't even answer some basic things first, that doesn't set a good tone.

A year or so I was looking at a used Genesis EV and the dealer provided a very detailed battery health report that they had run. I have asked a couple BMW dealers who just say "oh the battery is working properly". Is that normal?

Last question for now! For those that have bought used/CPO, how much haggling on price have you been able to do? Just wondering what is realistic to shoot for below asking price, if at all.

Considering used iX - lots of questions!

We have been car shopping and weren't really considering used, but you can get a 2024 iX for not much more than a new RAV4, so it could be an option for us, and my wife loved driving the iX xDrive50 we checked out this weekend. Jumping into my questions:

  • This would be our first EV and first BMW. What has overall reliability been like for the iX?
  • Mileage - one iX from an independent dealer we looked at had only ~11K miles, while most CPO at dealers have around 35K (often lease returns). Not sure how big a factor an extra 20K miles is on a used EV? Keeping in mind we drive only ~10K miles a year at most.
  • Warranty - most 2024's we are seeing have ~1 year remaining on factory warranty. Some of the ones we've seen are CPO, some are at independent dealers. Would we be crazy to consider owning an iX without an extended warranty? I've seen several recommendations to contact Cody (which I will) for warranty options - are only CPO cars eligible?
  • Thoughts on 'must have' packages? From what I've read, DAPP is a must. Sport package seems to be on almost every one I am looking at, mostly cosmetic? Luxury I think we could do without - crystal knobs, wood, and soft-close doors is it, right? Convenience or Premium I think would be musts for us as it seems to unlock quite a few things. We're in TX - so ventilated seats are a must. Some have the Icon laser headlights, some not - I don't think it's a must have, but might be nice if I can get it.
  • How well does the screen setup work? I have been really opposed to getting into a car where almost everything needs to be done in a screen, but almost all new cars are like this. Are most of the deep-dive settings "set and forget" or is there a lot that you find you use routinely that you need to go into menus?
  • Does the built-in nav do a good job of route planning with charging stops? Does it calculate where to stop, for how long you should charge, etc? We don't do road trips often, but this would still be nice.

Overall, the iX has jumped to near the top of our list, but my biggest concern is moving into a used luxury vehicle with potentially only a year or 2 of warranty remaining.

No beep plays when I get someone's voicemail

I'm on Fi, but when I call others and get their VM, I hear the message and then just silence. I never hear the beep so I don't know when to start leaving a message. Not sure if this is Fi or something on the other person's carrier but it's really weird and annoying. Any ideas?

Hyperbackup target Google Drive - offline?

I've been using Hyperbackup to back up some things to Google Drive for a long time now. Lately, when I view the task, it seems to randomly flip flop between showing "offline" and "online". I found a post with the same issue being reported here but no resolution suggested:

Anyone else having this issue and found a fix?
