Any neurodivergent Imperial students willing to chat about London transport experiences?

Bit of an unusual post, but I’m exploring a student project around improving public transport experiences for neurodivergent people in London.
This is not commercial - I’m not building a startup or trying to pitch anything. I just want to properly understand whether the problems I’m thinking about are actually real/significant for people.
I’m especially interested in experiences around:
tube/train anxiety
sensory overload
disruptions/platform changes
crowded stations
needing very predictable journeys
feeling overwhelmed navigating unfamiliar routes
I’d really like to hear from people who actually experience this rather than just guessing.
Even a quick DM conversation would help a ton, and if anyone would potentially be open to a short informal call/Zoom later on, that’d be amazing too.

Neurodivergent Londoners - does public transport ever feel weirdly overwhelming/stressful?

Hi - I’m a uni student exploring a potential project around making London public transport easier for neurodivergent people (ADHD, autism, anxiety, sensory issues, etc).
This is not commercial and I’m not selling or promoting anything - I’m just trying to understand real experiences properly before making assumptions about problems that may or may not exist.
Some things I’m curious about:
navigating busy stations/interchanges
sudden platform changes/disruptions
sensory overload/noise/crowds
uncertainty during journeys
route planning stress
fear of getting on the wrong train/bus
situations where existing apps like Citymapper/Google Maps still aren’t enough
If any of this resonates with you, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences - even just a few DMs/messages back and forth would help a lot.
And if anyone would potentially be open to a short informal Zoom/chat at some point, that would be amazing too.
I’m mainly just trying to learn from people who actually deal with this day to day.

Are there specific London stations/routes you avoid because they feel overwhelming?

(Just to clarify: this is an unpaid university project for a short HCI/design module - not a startup/commercial product.)

We’re doing a university project on sensory accessibility in navigation/public transport.

For autistic or sensory-sensitive people:
are there certain stations, routes, or environments you intentionally avoid?

If so, what makes them difficult?

  • noise
  • crowds
  • unpredictability
  • announcements
  • layouts
  • crossing roads
  • etc

Interested in real experiences + things navigation apps currently miss.

What parts of public transport or city navigation do you find most overwhelming/stressful?

(Just to clarify: this is an unpaid university project for a short HCI/design module - not a startup/commercial product.)

We’re researching how neurodivergent people experience navigating cities/public transport.

If you’re autistic or sensory-sensitive, what parts of travelling around cities (especially places like London) do you find most stressful or overwhelming?

For example:

  • crowded stations
  • noise
  • unexpected delays
  • confusing layouts
  • crossing roads
  • too many people/signs/etc

Would really appreciate hearing about any experiences or things current maps/navigation apps don’t account for.
