Finally swapping my VOO+VCN to QQQ+XEQT

I am a Canadian student and new to investing and started with VCN and VOO as 70% of my portfolio, however after strong repulsion from literally everyone, I swapping VCN and VOO to QQQ and XEQT.

Please tell me if it does not matter over a long time or should I made the swap and kindly do not suggest me any other ETFs.

Canadian portfolio

Started building my long-term portfolio at 21 as a student in Canada. Trying to keep it simple and balanced between ETFs and a few individual stocks.

Current allocation:

  • Vanguard S&P 500 Index ETF (US Market ETF) — 40%
  • Vanguard FTSE Canada All Cap Index ETF (Canadian Market ETF) — 35%

Individual stocks:

  • Microsoft Corporation
  • MDA Space Ltd.
  • Dollarama Inc.
  • Canadian Natural Resources Limited

Main goal is long-term growth with most money going into ETFs through DCA. Individual stocks are smaller positions where I have higher conviction.

Would appreciate any thoughts.

Long-Term Stock Picks: MDA, MSFT, DOL, CNQ — Looking for Insights

Hello everyone,

I have a ETF heavy portfolio and wanna invest a small part of it in reliable and growth oriented stock for long term. I might not be the best at stock analysis, however I narrowed down to 4 stocks: MDA MSFT DOL CNQ. I planning to invest 10-15% of portfolio in these stocks.

Please share your insight on these picks.

I am 22 and fairly new to investing:

VFV - 40%

VCN - 30%

GOLD - 10%

Individual Stocks - 5% each (DOL, CNQ, MDA, MSFT)

I am aiming to hold them for long term (20 yrs+) except the stocks picks and keep adding small amounts regularly.
