Hey all, I am looking for some help/advice on my thousand sons list. I haven’t played them before but I’m primarily a necron player from 8th edition. I played one game of them in 11th but they don’t quite fit the playstyle I am looking for so I’ve shifted to TSons. I am thinking take and hold for this list but would appreciate (and I’m sure could use!) advice on my list. I got dominated by blood angels in my one other game but other than that I am not sure what my local meta is so I’m try to go more all around
Test 1A (1,990 Points)

Hexwarp Thrallband and Ritual of Regeneration (3 Detachment Points)
Force Dispositions: Purge the Foe, Take and Hold
Strike Force (2,000 Points)
ATTACHED UNITS
Attached unit 1
Exalted Sorcerer (115 Points)
• Attached as: Leader (Character)
• 1x Astral Blast
• 1x Force weapon
• 1x Inferno bolt pistol
• Enhancements: Empyric Onslaught
Rubric Marines (190 Points)
• Attached as: Bodyguard (Battleline)
• 1x Aspiring Sorcerer
◦ 1x Force weapon
◦ 1x Inferno bolt pistol
◦ 1x Malefic Curse
• 9x Rubric Marine
◦ 9x Close combat weapon
◦ 1x Icon of Flame
◦ 1x Soulreaper cannon
◦ 8x Warpflamer
First unit is 10x rubric marines with icon of flame, 8 warpflsmers, a soul reaper cannon and the aspiring with the warp flame pistol. Leading the unit is an infernal lord with the empowered manifestation enhancement.
With the detachments I am running my plan is this makes a good objective holder in the mid board, melting units with overwatch but maybe now the mid objective since this one is a little less tanks than the other unit? I’m more worried that this unit isn’t enough to hold against the onslaught it will see while sitting in the terrain
Attached unit 2
Infernal Master (115 Points)
• Attached as: Leader (Character)
• 1x Fires of the Abyss
• 1x Force weapon
• 1x Inferno bolt pistol
• Enhancements: Empowered Manifestation
Rubric Marines (190 Points)
• Attached as: Bodyguard (Battleline)
• 1x Aspiring Sorcerer
◦ 1x Force weapon
◦ 1x Malefic Curse
◦ 1x Warpflame pistol
• 9x Rubric Marine
◦ 9x Close combat weapon
◦ 1x Icon of Flame
◦ 1x Soulreaper cannon
◦ 8x Warpflamer
Second is the same loadout for the rubrics in the other unit but paired with an exalted sorcerer. With the 4++ and the healing ability of him I’m thinking these guys sit mid board and hold that objective down. This one is am a little less worried than the previous since they have more defense and healing but still, are they enough to hold or would I be better throwing something in with it/in front to screen for charges?
Attached unit 3
Sorcerer in Terminator Armour (115 Points)
• Attached as: Leader (Character)
• 1x Force weapon
• 1x Gaze of Hate
• 1x Inferno combi-bolter
• Enhancements: Arcane Might
Scarab Occult Terminators (370 Points)
• Attached as: Bodyguard ()
• 1x Scarab Occult Sorcerer
◦ 1x Force weapon
◦ 1x Inferno combi-bolter
◦ 1x Malefic Curse
• 9x Scarab Occult Terminator
◦ 2x Hellfyre missile rack
◦ 7x Inferno combi-bolter
◦ 9x Prosperine khopesh
◦ 2x Soulreaper cannon
My last attached unit is 10x terminators with the two cannons and the rest with default gear, the unit being lead by a sorcerer in terminator armor. My idea is to have them in deep strike and either take another objective that is lightly defended or have them try and clear a stubborn unit that my marines can’t reach or need support on. Since they can deep strike my brains tells me they should but in a take and hold them not scoring me points on the first two turns at minimum seems counter to the main goal?
CHARACTERS
Magnus the Red (455 Points)
• Warlord
• 1x Blade of Magnus
• 1x Gaze of Magnus
• 1x Tzeentch’s Firestorm
Mutalith Vortex Beast (170 Points)
• 1x Betentacled maw
• 1x Mutalith claws
• 1x Warp vortex
MVB and Magnus are back row support, staying behind the marines to give them the benefit of auras with magnus also throwing out ranged attacks and psyker stuff as needed. I’m less worried about them taking tons of fire from the front (minus anti-tank long shots) but I almost feel like they are underutilized back there? Especially the beast since it seems good for melee
OTHER DATASHEETS
Chaos Spawn (65 Points)
• 2x Chaos Spawn
◦ 2x Hideous mutations
Tzaangor Enlightened with Fatecaster Greatbows (55 Points)
• 1x Aviarch
◦ 1x Close combat weapon
◦ 1x Fatecaster greatbow
• 2x Enlightened
◦ 2x Close combat weapon
◦ 2x Fatecaster greatbow
Tzaangors (75 Points)
• 1x Twistbray
◦ 1x Tzaangor blades
• 9x Tzaangor
◦ 9x Autopistol
◦ 1x Brayhorn
◦ 9x Chainsword
Tzaangors (75 Points)
• 1x Twistbray
◦ 1x Tzaangor blades
• 9x Tzaangor
◦ 9x Autopistol
◦ 1x Brayhorn
◦ 9x Chainsword
The Tzaangors (2x10) each have the pistols and chain swords, mostly to be used for screening and deep strike denial
The enlightened are mostly for secondaries/screening. Maybe to take precision shots here and there but generally they are more for taking actions
2x chaos spawn to also deny deep strike and camp on my home objective for those points.
My biggest concern here is do I have too much for screening/utility? Playing into purge the foe or something these guys are basically just minimal effort points.
After my last post I decided to go further into take and hold with a more tanky army. Only nine units seem a bit low but I think the durability can make up for it

I made a post the other day about what I should look at in Thousand Sons to start... well I ended up having some MtG cards I was thinking about trading in, one thing led to another and I went a little heavy. I am having trouble fine tuning a list to start with between model limitations and wanting to try different things, any advice?

Hey! Getting into thousand sons, first time touching them. I just bought a Sekhmet box and I am curious on what my next priorities should be. I love the idea of rituals and having a durable gun line
Guys I just played my first game and got totally smoked, I did well on points for the first two rounds but I think it’s mostly my lack of knowing how to play/run the army. By the end of round 4 I had been tabled. I tried a hand of the dynasty/cursed legion list and I was outshot and butchered in melee. Was I going too broad with the list or?

Hey! I’m a returning player, played casually (see incorrectly) in 8th edition pre-covid but I am getting back into the hobby! I was initially going to built and paint slowly but with 11th coming out this month I’m thinking it’s best to build, prime and learn to play as I learn to paint. Anyone have any resources, thoughts, advice etc on how to get reacquainted with the rules?
Hey all, I played super casually (and poorly) in 8th edition but haven’t since. Slowly been working on my collection for a year or so and am finally getting ready to play. This is the list I have been working on vs the models I have if anyone has any advice. I read about canoptek court a while ago and have been slowly buying into that.

1x plasmancer (attached to immortals)
1x overload with translocation cloak (attached to immortals)
1x shard of the void dragon
1x illuminated szeras
12x wraiths (two units of 6)
10 immortals (one unit)
3x doom stalkers
3x scarabs
2x locust heavy destroyers (one man per unit)
ALL MODELS

2x hexmark destroyers
10x Immortals
1x plasmancer
I’ve never really seen/heard anyone else talk about this but has anyone noticed when Van Pelt goes to drop the gold coins on the counter in the gun shop his hand gets super choppy for a second. Same thing happens a few minutes earlier when the Pelican picks up the game to fly off. At first I thought it was just the cgi of the bird but the hand makes no sense. Anyone have an answer? It seems almost purposeful
