Nishiki FB Marketplace Find

I recently picked up this Nishiki for a good price on Marketplace. It definitely needs some love and care before I ride it much, but I’m excited for it! The serial number is S1 6A335, and I’m having trouble tracking down information about Nishiki serial numbers that begin with an S. It says “Custom” on one side of the frame, but has no other decal on the other side.

Any thoughts or ideas? Based on the logo and the font style of “Nishiki” on the frame, I would guess it’s from the late 70s or early 80s, but haven’t been able to figure out too much else.

Thank you! 🙏🏻

How to approach repainting interior trim of my old house?

We live in a 90 year old home in the southeast US, and have lived in it for about 5 years. Prior to buying the house, it was a rental property for 60 years. The home is full of landlord specials, including the paint jobs.

The trim was cheaply repainted by the prior seller, but now all of our trim paint on our doors, baseboards, door trim, and window trim (10 doors, 25 windows 🫠) is either bubbling or peeling and we’ve reached our limit of just living with it.

I’m operating on the assumption that there’s lead paint somewhere beneath the more recent layers of paint. What’s the most efficient route to remedy the bubbling/peeling paint and then to repaint it all? If we just scrape the top layers, the trim will have high and low spots depending on how much peels, and the paint won’t look smooth on the trim.

Assuming that replacing every inch of trim in my house is not an option we want to do, what are the best options here to make everything look smooth, uniform, and good?

Thank you!
