First heart. Made of rebar my wife pulled out of a dog

First heart. Made of rebar my wife pulled out of a dog

Made it a hook as well because I like practical things and my wife’s a vet, she didn’t just yank the thing out haha.

No forge time today. But was able to fab a new post vice stand up

Had a few small chunks of time today so faced up a post vice stand it’s able to come away from the swag stand if I want to. But I like having it on it for extra mass when twisting. Need to get some bolts to go threw the holes to keep it secure

Want to get a holder for my twisting wrench put on it. But that’s a project for another day.

First leafs and hook

Finally got a decent chunk of time to forge. Between kids and work/wife’s work there not a lot of free time. Got about 5 hours today. Started with the hooks, had a hell if a cutting them with a chisel. And the did the sickles. My arm was gassed by the time I started drawing them out. One has a few big mistakes so will go to the junk pile. And still had to sharpen the other. Hooks made out of rebar that I shaped somewhat square, left some ribs thinking it give them a more tree like look

Leafs were a lot of fun and can’t wait to make more. Was going to use the two normal ones for a sword but the kids claimed them for backpacks haha

Setup a waterslide on our skate ramp!

Did one on our spiral slide on the play house before but the little didn’t like it haha. Put dish soap on it to try to get them going extra fast

Bad idea for dust collecting?

Try to minimize the amount of dust flying everywhere now. Wondering if it’ll be too hot for the hose? Should I replace the rubber with like a dry vent hose? What are you guys doing who don’t have a specific grinding room?

Anyone know of more bands with this vibe?

I like their other stuff as well. But this album in particular just hits hard right now. Up beat and feels like faire

Made a set of garden tools for the wife

They’re a little rough. But it was a lot of fun and good practice. Going to be making more for my mother in law to auction off for her community garden!

Weed puller (2 hours), herb scythe (3 hours), hand rake (2 hours), and garden trowel (1.5 hours)

I had made a few trowels so got a bit faster. Hoping the next one of the rest gets faster as well!

New grinder day!

Vevor 2x72. Tilting, tool arm, vfd. Came out around 900 usd. I know there’s better out there but for under 1k Im very happy with it as a hobbiest.

Build quality seems solid. Enclosed the vfd. Ordered a glass back for the platen. And still need to build it a base so it sits lower.

Only use it’s seen so far was taking a 3/4 rebar down to 1/2 for a non blacksmithing project. But it did it in no time flat, didn’t bog down under pressure, and tracked perfectly

Wore a kilt to a wedding. Caused my wife to get pulled into the office

Weeding for my wife’s coworker (my wife was also there). She got pulled into to the office at work for an emergency. The emergency? To, and I quote, “check out the hot piece of ass you married.”

Also got a lot of compliments and a bit of light sexual harassment at the bars after. It was a small town and I don’t think they’d see someone in a kilt before haha

The original plan was to landscape that area. I like the dirt pile better

Bought a house that had what seemed to be a large fountain/small pond, not something we’d use, so I cleaned it out and started filling it with dirt. Got 2 yard in it and was waiting for a chance to get more, but the kids had other plans. Now we will happily host a dirt pit for the next several years and I couldn’t be happier about it.
