A workplace toxic, bully finally lost his job!
This story isn't mine, but I do believe this one belongs here.
My partner (early 30s) got a workplace bully which kept me bullying him since he was like teenager. Let's call this bully Lucius (late 50s? I don't know his exact age) and my partner Metin (those are not the real names, of course). Both of them have been working at the same company for more than 10+ years. Metin started as an apprentice and Lucius started at that company before Metin did.
Lucius was supposed to supervise Metin as he was Lucius's apprentice/team lead. Lucius did his job wrong, he yelled at Metin and treated Metin like a his servant.
Lucius was three-time divorcee with three children (from different mothers), and obsessed with alcohol. So we have no doubt where his destructive and anti-social behaviour came from.
By the way, their company produces some software, and to protect their personal information let's say their profession is a software development (of course they are not real software dev).
Despite Lucius being like a Darth Vader to him, Metin got to finish his apprenticeship and still works at the same company as a dev today. Lucius lost his position as a team lead and got demoted to a senior dev.
Metin has been employed there for many years and has been promoted to a team lead earlier this year, a position Lucius held previously. - See, Metin just scored his revenge milestone!
But his revenge story did not end just yet.
Metin wasn't the only victim of Lucius.
Metin's team members got their share of Lucius's childish tantrum and bullying and had really enough of Lucius.
Day by day Metin and his team members (or shall we call them fellow Lucius survivors?) gathered evidence that proves Lucius's wrongdoing. They finally escalated to CEO which is a friend of Lucius and HR which is also a Lucius's enabler.
It took Team Metin good 6 months to finally get CEO and HR sign Lucius's termination. As both of them wanted Lucius to stay at the company, it wasn't easy for the team to convince them.
In the meantime, Lucius has been excluded from team events and he felt that isolation as well.
Team Metin's effort and patience were paid off! Metin just informed me yesterday that Lucius signed his termination.
So Metin got to kick his ex-boss out of the company and completed his biggest revenge! Should I approach the press and sell this story? In our country something like this happens rarely, like the apprentice did revenge against the boss!!
Metin already informed his team members about Lucius's termination also. Whether or not they rejoiced about it, I don't know unfortunately. But I am pretty sure they would.
Unfortunately, Lucius were allowed to stay employed until the end of this year (in where we are the labour law does not allow to terminate someone like Lucius with a short notice, who works at the same company for about 20+ years).
But Metin has a plan to remove Lucius from the work at the immediate effect (in our country this has been a common practice - a terminated employee won't be allowed to work there anymore, but s/he gets severance pay and retains the employee status until the termination day comes). Again, our labour law does not easily allow this but I hope Metin will manage to do so.
Again, unfortunately, Lucius quickly found a new job as he sensed he would lose his job in Metin's team. But I hope Lucius won't last at his new work. If his new colleague finds out his story with Metin, Lucius will get unemployed quickly and that will end Lucius's corporate career.
Given what he has done to his co-workers, I think Lucius deserves his karma.
Metin and I have been planning to celebrate Lucius's disgrace from work. Lucius won't be an obstacle to Metin anyway. Maybe I will open some champagne bottles.
Thank you for reading thus far.
