Severe cat allergy is ruining my health

Hey everyone, I’m posting here because I’m at my wits' end and don't know what to do anymore. My health is deteriorating, and it’s causing a massive strain on my marriage.
I’ve had a female stray cat for 10 years. When I got married, she naturally came with me. Later on, thinking it wouldn't be an issue, we decided to get a second cat—a male Sphynx. That is exactly when my nightmare began.
Shortly after getting the second cat, my body started showing severe allergic symptoms. For the past year, I have been dealing with:
Shortness of breath and difficulty breathing (which gets worse at night).
A severe wheezing/whistling sound when I try to force air in.
Intense itching in my chest and throat.
Extreme dryness in my nose, making it even harder to breathe.
Eye pain and occasionally high blood pressure (around 140/90), though I'm not entirely sure if the BP and eye pain are directly related.
Last summer, this escalated into allergic bronchitis. Right now, I am going through the exact same flare-up again.
I went to a doctor, and the allergy test came back positive for cats (3/6mm). The doctor confirmed that my symptoms are highly allergic and asthmatic.
We have tried everything to manage this. We have an air purifier running constantly, we feed them specialized allergen-reducing food (like Purina Pro Plan LiveClear), and we strictly do not allow the cats into our bedroom. None of it is working.
The medical treatments available usually involve heavy, long-term allergy medications or steroid inhalers. I strongly do not want to depend on daily medication or compromise my long-term health with these drugs just to coexist with an environmental trigger in my own house.
When I try to talk to my wife about the reality of our situation—which is that we might need to find them a new home for the sake of my health—she completely shuts down. She refuses to even entertain the idea of rehoming them. We’ve had countless arguments about this.
I love animals, and I’ve had my first cat for a decade, but I am literally struggling to breathe in my own home. I feel like my health is being dismissed.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? How did you handle the medical side without resorting to lifelong medication, and more importantly, how did you navigate this with a spouse who refuses to let go? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I’m in a desperate situation and need some outside perspective.
When I got married and moved in with my husband, I brought my cat from my previous home. Around the same time, my in-laws gifted us a kitten, thinking it wouldn't be an issue. However, that’s exactly when my health started deteriorating.
I began experiencing bronchial constriction at night. After seeing a doctor, tests revealed I have a level 3.5 allergy to cats. I noticed a clear pattern: when I’m away from home (on vacation, etc.), I feel perfectly fine. The moment I return, the symptoms flare up.
It has been a year, and my condition hasn't improved. I deal with:
• Fluctuating and high blood pressure
• Eye pain and constant fatigue/weakness
• Bouts of shortness of breath and bronchial constriction at night (not every night)
I’ve seen multiple doctors. While some tests are inconclusive, they all agree these symptoms are likely triggered by my allergies.
The Conflict:
When I suggest rehoming the cats, my husband flatly refuses. He insists that my health issues aren't caused by the cats or the allergy, despite the medical evidence and the clear correlation with being at home. We’ve had hundreds of circular arguments about this, and it has pushed us to the brink of divorce.
His "solution" is for me to start immunotherapy (allergy shots) and take daily medication indefinitely. I am hesitant to commit to long-term medical intervention for a problem that has a clear environmental solution, especially since my quality of life is already so low.
I feel like my husband is choosing the pets over my ability to breathe and live comfortably in my own home. I love animals, but I feel abandoned in this marriage.
Has anyone dealt with a partner who prioritizes pets over your health? Am I being unreasonable for refusing long-term medication/shots?

I’m not sure if this is related, but since getting my iPhone Air, I’ve been having ongoing eye discomfort.

I feel a kind of aching or cramp-like pain behind my eyes, along with mild blurriness and dryness. In the mornings, my eyes also feel a bit “off” or strange when I wake up. What’s confusing is that the symptoms don’t seem to spike while I’m actively using the phone—they feel more spread out throughout the entire day.

This has been happening daily for months now.

Could this be related to PWM sensitivity, or does it sound like something else? Has anyone experienced similar symptoms?

Any input would be appreciated.
