Why do people not play Lightning Returns?

Really just title. I see so many people say they played the first two, but never got around to Lightning Returns and I'm wondering why.

I understand people who just stopped after the first one, either because they hated it or thought it was a great ending, but for people who played XIII-2 almost everyone I've spoken to tells me that they liked it better (I'm in the minority I think in preferring the first game).

So if XIII-2 was generally well liked, why wouldn't people play the next game? XIII-2 isn't like the first game which could have ended the story as a standalone, it is very much a "Oh shit, it's about to get real" kind of ending with no conclusion at all, so it's strange to me that people who liked the game wouldn't want to finish the story.

I thought about asking this in the main sub but I didn't want to deal with all the inevitable "XIII sucks" comments.

Honor Mode Ansur and Raphael

Are DEAD!!! (Yes, this is a brag post)

I made a post a while back showing that I had defeated Myrkul and was moving on to Act 3. A lot of people told me to not do unnecessary fights or try new things. I just did both.

From the very getgo of my run, these were the two fights that I had seen everybody recommending to skip as they were run killers. So naturally they were the two I was most nervous about. I was actually shaking nervous going through the House of Hope. But I'm determined to do everything and really feel like I earned those dice, so skipping them was out of the question.

Plus the gear you get is awesome.

This is technically my 3rd run, but its really my first as the original one I quit once I got to the grove and just didn't like the character I was playing with, a half orc bard. The second I started over because Gale couldn't free Us.

All of my party are classed thematically. I don't do complicated game breaking builds, just what they would naturally be.

Ansur: Evocation Wizard Gale, Vengeance Paladin Lae'zel, Throwzerker Karlach, and Fiendlock Wyll.

Raphael: Gale, Karlach, Wyll, and Light Cleric Shadowheart. In retrospect, I would probably not bring Shadowheart as Hope pretty much did everything she needed to and more. Jaheara would probably have more utility.

Finding out that Giant Karlach with Cloud Giant Strength can THROW Ascended Raphael was hilarious.

Ansur took 3 turns, Raphael 6, because of course it did. Admittedly though at the end of his fight I was playing around shooting cantrips at him while I still had V spells slots to use, lol.

Only the Iron Throne and the Elder Brain stand in my way now. I'm getting those dice!

Bhaal's cult is hilariously weird

This legit made me laugh out loud. I'm on an honor mode run and I've actually never done the Murder Tribunal before, the only other character I've gotten this far into the game with was my first character who was a resist Dark Urge. I don't remember how I got in, but somehow I wasn't even aware of the Murder Tribunal or that you were supposed to go kill Sarevok before Orin.

This time I'm doing everything with a Gale Origin. Sarevok went down like a sack of potatoes, and I went over to deal with Orin and be done with the whole Bhaal plot.

When I get to the door, I show it the Amulet of Bhaal, thinking that's all I need. The door says that's not enough, and I'm like... okay? Do I need to lie and say that I'm part of the murder cult too?

No. To my surprise there was a line that said, "I slaughtered the entire Murder Tribunal." So I thought what the hell, and clicked it. And it let me in! The door was like, "Eh, works for me. Come on in and walk in blood!"

LOL! What kind of cult is this?!? I literally tell them that I killed some extremely important figures of their little group and they roll out the red carpet! This is absolutely nuts!

Thought Provoking - Raphael with the Crown

I turned down Raphael's deal at the beginning of Act 3 and then talked to Lae'zel, who asked why. I told her that Raphael using the Crown to unite the hells sounds like a horrible idea, thinking I was being smart, and her response actually stumped me.

"Why?" she asked. Then followed up by asking if he would be any worse than Asmodeus currently is, or Mephistopheles. And I was kind of taken back because... is she right? Would giving Raphael the crown just amount to a lateral move within the Hells and a free Orpheus and a dead Netherbrain in the material world, ultimately resulting in a net positive?

He would ultimately still have the Blood War to occupy his attention just like Asmodeus does, and just using the Crown to gain power wouldnt stop all the litany of other devils trying to overthrow him. So I'm wondering if the deal wouldn't actually be that bad.

Btw yes I've been through the House of Hope before and seen all the shit he does. I assume that he is no different from any other major devil player in that regard.

Voss also added, when I told him the same thing, that dealing with a devil is no worse than Vlaakith's tyranny, which I also find difficult to argue with.

I'm still going to kill Raphael, because his loot is good, but it did get me thinking that maybe we oversell just how bad Raphael with the Crown of Karsus would be.

I don't understand Band of the Mystic Scoundrel

Edit: I get it now, thank you everyone who contributed.

So I'm on an honor mode run and just got the Band, and everywhere I see people always prop it up as the best thing since sliced bread. But I just don't get it, the Only use I can see for it with my party is being able to invis after a sneak attack with Astarion.

Here is my party, level 9 atm

Gale: Divination Wizard

Wyll: Fiendlock

Lae'zel: Vengeance Paladin

Karlach: Berserker Barb

Astarion: 5 Gloomstalker 4 Assassin

Shadowheart: Light Cleric

Jaheara and Halsin: Window dressing

Like, other than the one rare use from Astarion, any of my characters who may once in a blue moon benefit from a bonus action illusion don't swing weapons. Lae'zel is the only attacker and spellcaster, but only in name because I need her spell slots for smites.

I know this is probably some min max thing that I just don't have the capacity to understand, but I was wondering if there is someone obvious I am missing.

Or is this really just meant for having a bard in your party?

Script Extender not enabling Achievements

I'm trying to save an honor mode run from a game breaking bug that won't let me move on in between Act 2 and 3. You can see my recent post if you want details on that.

The only way to get around it is the debug tool. I've been playing without any mods at all because Honor Mode but now I need to get both the tutorial chest and the debug tool in without the game disabling achievements.

I have the script extender, but it doesn't enable achievements like everyone says it does. Everyone says it's automatic and they didn't have to do anything, but that's not the case with me. As you can see in the photos, I have Enable Achievements selected in Preference, and yet the game still recognizes mods on my custom playthroughs.

Trying to figure out if anyone knows why it wouldn't be automatic for me and what the best way to fix this is.

Honor Mode Stopped by Bug - Help

Honor Mode - Possibly ruined by bug

So I made a post earlier today showing that I had beaten Myrkul in Honor Mode:

[https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/1t7g7nu/honor\\\_mode\\\_act\\\_2\\\_cleared/\](https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/1t7g7nu/honor\_mode\_act\_2\_cleared/)

And now my honor mode run might be done because of a bug.

I wrapped up everything, yes everything conversation you can possibly have, in Act 2 before proceeding to the road to Baldur's Gate. I hit Wyrm's Lookout at night, with everything normal. I knew the fight against the Gith Honor Guard would be the toughest yet, and I had been playing for a while so I saved and then logged out (yes I know it saves again, I like to be thorough).

When I logged back in, everything was different. It was daytime, not night. I was wearing gear, not camp clothes. Shadowheart's hair was white and everyone was talking about it. Astarion wanted to talk to me about Cazador. Basically exactly as if I had already done the Gith Ambush, which I hadn't.

It also wouldn't let me leave the camp. I just click on the bedroll and nothing happens. There is no End Day option either as it is acting like we just woke up.

I tried traveling back to the Road to Baldur's Gate and reentering the act that way. No jam. I was able to sleep, but it just sleeps normally and we wake up normally. Again, the game seems to think we've already done the Gith Ambush, so it won't trigger the scene.

I tried going back again and resting at my camp in Act 2. There were naked copies of Gale there so I destroyed them (I am Origin Gale), but the entire camp was glitched. No tents, everyone is standing around where you spawn in except Isobel and Aylin. I rested there and then proceeded to Baldurs Gate like normal. but no change. It gives the cutscene of leaving Act 2 every time, but it always puts me in Wyrm's Lookout during the day.

I'm at a loss. I feel devastated because my run was going so well. I cannot find any solution to this online, but plenty of people seem to have had it. I am throwing out a life line to see if anyone has a fix that won't ruin my Honor Mode run.

I have heard of a debug mod but I don't want to do that because its Honor Mode and the game will see it and flag my game as mods enabled.

Looking for some DnD lore knowledge on how this works.

So, what exactly are the post game consequences for Wyll keeping his pact? Specifically, what eventually happens to Fiendlocks? I'm on an honor mode run and I'm planning ahead for the Iron Throne.

Wyll says earlier in Act 2 that his ultimate fate was always to become a lemure in Avernus. Is that true of all Fiendlocks? Does signing a contract to have a Devil as your patron also mean that they get your soul after you die? And if so, are Fiendlocks uncommon due to this?

What about Goolocks? Or Faylocks? Do all Warlocks forfeit a potential good afterlife for power while alive?

Also, why would Mizora even want that? Wyll is incredibly useful with his powers, you would think she would want to keep him as her strongarm, not a useless blob. Cause while she's evil and all, as far as Devils go she seems about as good as you can get. Everyone pretty much agreed that Wyll got off easy for sparring Karlach, after all.
