I'm a Senior Lead DevOps / Platform Engineer, 10 yoy work experience, spent the last year and a half building private GPU clusters and getting AI/LLM projects over the line, succesfully.

I don't have any contact in London, I'm an EU citizen, how's the job market over there for seniors (recent senior I would say)

I've just started writing to recruiters, I've got 7 years of experience in DevOps, kubernetes, Linux, built actual GPU clusters and carried AI/ML projects to fruition, yadda yadda yadda.

Had a career in logistics before that, I'm Italian.

I'm a EU citizen, I speak no Dutch but fluent English, My wife in non-EU citizen, she's Iranian, so quite a "high risk" origin, she just finished a master's degree in Italy, marketing, and has 10 years of sales experience in the medtech field, how does the admin works if I do find a job and a house? It's not entirely clear to me if she can start to look for work as soon as we apply for her permit or not, I've been reading that the IND is taking ages to issue the actual permit, can she work in the meantime?

For people in tech and recruiters: how's the career progression for English speakers only? I guess you do have to speak dutch to progress, am I wrong?

For expats: did you get a job offer from abroad or did you have to move to the Netherlands first?

Sono un consulente linux mid-senior (10 anni di esperienza). Faccio devops, platform engineering, cloud, kubernetes, etc. tutta quella roba li, ho certificazioni nel settore (niente laurea), referenze e parlo inglese fluentemente, C1.

ho cominciato a contattare i recruiter e un minimo di ritorno me lo aspetto, qualcuno di voi e' nella stessa situazione e si e' trasferito? com'e' il lavoro nel settore tech in NL? come funzionano le progressioni di carriera per gli expat che arrivano con quel livello di esperienza? immagino che ad un certo punto un po di olandese uno lo debba imparare se vuoi salire, corretto?

mia moglie e' straniera, ha finito un master in italia da poco (marketing, ha 10 anni di esperienza come sales/marketing nel settore medtech nel suo paese di origine).

vedo che lo stipendio medio per un devops e' sui 60k lordi, 5k al mese quindi, ho letto del 30% sulla tassazione, lo stipendio medio di un devops pare essere il bare minimum per un appartamentino, pure fuori amsterdam (1h di commute). Mi aspetto cmq di dover tribolare per trovare anche quello da quanto leggo.

Per mia moglie vedremo, non parla italiano benissimo (B2) ma l'inglese si, quindi pensiamo che i posti come Londra e l'Olanda possano offrirle piu' opportunita' per entrare.

commenti? suggerimenti? magari addirittura qualche contatto per recruiters e/o aziende (la lista delle grosse la ho gia' fatta).

I keep reading the housing situation is bad, how exactly? bad like it takes 6 mohths for find a decent apartment at the right prize and the meantime you live in an overpriced average one? you spend a year to find any apartment and you live in a sharehouse in the meantime? you stay at hostel for a month while you work and get a house? is it bas only in Amsterdam and a few other big centers but it's ok outside of it and you just commute? what was other people experience in this regard? does rent still work up to 30% of income or are we talking 50-60%?

forgot to include expected income: the positions I'm looking for and the recruiters I've spoken to confirmed a gross annual salary range of 60/70k (tech)

I have a situation where I may need the noobaa operator without ODF, this customer has no ODF subscription and doesn't plan to get one, their storage is on a SAN and there's a CSI.

they need an on prem S3 solution and given all the various option noobaa on it's own, backed by a CSI managed block pvc seems to be a viable option, has anybody done this already?

the entraid and exchange migration stuff went well, a few inboxes with too many folders, the local imap server serving folders with special name that broke the imap migration (fixed with -includefolder and -excludefolder list, obviously I generated all the stuff programmatically using a small DB where I wrote all the infos I needed that I got from the on prem email server, axigen)

autoconfigurations, outlook clients, teams, calendar, signatures, everything seems to be working well.

the MX record have been switched, mail deliverability, inbound and outbound seems good.

now I need to prepare the environment for the support people at the company to handle stuff like quarantine release and such.

any pointers? I see that under security.microsoft.com -> threat policies -> standard protection seems to have a bunch of decent defaults, is this something that people do?

I will spend some time learning this stuff because I have to say exchange online does seem like a well crafted product and I'm curious now of this side of things, my understanding of emails comes from using them, having read the IMAP and SMTP RFCs and having had adiacent issues with it from applications and infra management.

and yes, they will also get someone to at least audit this stuff, I was able to get at least this done from a proper expert on the subject.

I absolutely love dogs and am a nature guy, I was exploring the option of dog sledding, I don't care about much more else, I just want to experience the relationship with the dogs. I mean feeding, caring for them, setting up the sled, learning to handle it, all that.

does anybody here knows if there's people with dogs in greenland that would offer this kind of experience?

I'm a linux guy, kubernetes, AWS, GCP, Onprem stuff, devops and all that.

I am being asked to do a job in a smaller company that is trying to move to Azure/exchange online from a local mail server, all good right? what could go wrong getting a linux guy to handle AD stuff and o365 migration?

their current domain has a non routable name, it ends with .lan, everything I'm reading is telling me that this is not really a good idea and it's just something that creates headaches down the road, can somebody experienced with this confirm?

oh and their domain has a functional level of 2008, windows AD servers are 2019....

the windows guy left years ago and they never really got anybody else to do it...you know, smaller companies and all that (72 users).

even the test environment I've built to try this out has plenty of issues trying to use the tenant with onmicrosoft.com while a spare domain I had was configured as a custom domain name, which was the first plan I tried to validate, I'm in login hell with the Entra Cloud Sync agent not accepting my a different email for the login, besides this, I should really change the domain name, correct?

professionista IT in ambito enterprise, full stack, so farvi infrastrutture a costi bassissimi e gestire la parte tecnica.

non cerco una collaborazione continuativa ma qualche mezz'ora per conoscerci ce la metto pure e poi si decide, forse a qualcuno serve ed a me andrebbe bene esplorare.

Linux, cloud, AI (so come hostarvi i modelli, ho fatto il deploy di svariati progetti complessi e affrontato le varie questioni che ci sono intorno), web, sicurezza, etc.

Sono genovese e sto cercando casa qui. È la mia prima e non so praticamente nulla di compravendite immobiliari e mi sto informando.

La mia impressione è che il mercato di questa città sia uno di quelli dove ci sono più venditori che acquirenti, qualcuno qui più esperto mi riesce a confermare la mia impressione?
