The Brits are coming… on July 4th weekend

2 friends and I, all English guys (you guys won 250 years ago, accepted!), are visiting Lake Conroe on July 3/4/5 next weekend. Actually this will be the first stop on our World Cup trip ending in New York. Very excited.

I assume it’s a good idea to introduce ourselves to the USA with a July 4th weekend at a lake in Texas, right? We’ll be staying not too far from the town of Montgomery.

We have nothing planned, so I’m basically writing this to ask for the best things for us to do over those 3 days. We do love a beer and happy vibes! I assume that won’t be too hard to find next weekend.

Thanks in advance for your response!

Looking for some local advice regarding where to stay in Alabama! Thanks.

Hi,

My friends and I, three guys from the UK, will be travelling through Alabama in July (Biloxi - Nashville). On that route, we would like to stay somewhere for one day/night on July 10th (Friday). We don’t want any of the big cities, we’d rather a local town feel where we can stay, have a few beers, and getting that southern town experience whilst mixing with locals. Somewhere that might host a traditional American sport for us to experience. Does anyone know of a place that could almost guarantee a perfect spot to get this vibe we're looking for. Where would you suggest?

Traveling to Alabama this July - looking for a small town vibe for a fun afternoon/night!

Good day!

My two mates and I are planning a road trip this July, driving up from Biloxi to Nashville. We really want to break up the drive by spending a Friday afternoon/night (July 10th) in a smaller Alabama town rather than bypassing the state via the major cities. Our idea for the evening is to experience the atmosphere of local, grassroots American racing. We’re thinking of something along the lines of a local dirt track, stock car racing, or a demolition derby. Something that will have people sharing beers around the area before/after. We just don’t really know where to start.

• Are there any specific small towns along or near that corridor that are famous for having a great Friday night vibe during the summer?

• If the racing schedule doesn't line up perfectly for that exact Friday, where would you suggest 3 Brits go to experience genuine, welcoming Alabama hospitality?

We want to experience the authentic local culture, meet some great people, and support local spots. Any recommendations for towns, tracks, or classic watering holes would be great.

Cheers in advance!
