Data Point : FHR property credit is baked into the hotel rate

TL;DR: Same hotel, same 4-night stay, but my additional cardholder account showed a lower non-FHR rate, while my wife’s primary Platinum account showed it as Fine Hotels + Resorts. The FHR version was about $79 more total in the screenshots, before considering the hotel credit/FHR perks. Since the $100 property credit is basically offset by the higher price, the real value is mostly the other FHR benefits.

It’s been brought up before, but I wanted to add another data point with screenshots.
My wife is the primary Platinum cardholder and I’m added as an additional cardholder. Lately, I’ve been having issues seeing Fine Hotels + Resorts listings under my own account, so I had her download the Amex app and search from her account as well.
The hotel in question was The Henderson Beach Resort & Spa in Destin, FL for a 4-night stay.
On my account, the hotel was showing as a regular listing with a total price of $1,946.05, including taxes and fees.

The breakdown showed:
4 nights: $1,526.20
Average nightly rate: $381.55
Taxes & fees: $198.37
Taxes/fees due at property: $221.48
Resort fee: $196.00
On my wife’s account, the same hotel was showing under Fine Hotels + Resorts with a total price of $2,025.00. The breakdown showed:
4 nights: $1,596.00
Average nightly rate: $399.00
Taxes & fees: $207.52
Taxes/fees due at property: $221.48
Resort fee: $196.00

So in this case, the FHR listing was about $78.95 more total than the non-FHR listing I was seeing.
Granted, booking the FHR rate would allow us to use the hotel credit and get the usual FHR perks, but the $100 property credit is basically a wash when the FHR price is already higher. The remaining value would really come down to the other FHR benefits like breakfast, late checkout, potential upgrade, etc.

Just wanted to provide another data point for anyone else comparing searches between a primary Platinum account and an additional cardholder account.

Also, it’s pretty annoying because I currently can’t reliably see FHR listings under my account. According to Amex chat, travel is undergoing maintenance, so maybe that’s part of it.

Pre-2025 prestige 500 picked up new for $1000. Should I cancel pick up and return it?

Found a great deal on what I thought was the newer 2025 proceeds 500 from a Lowe’s outlet out, the door price was $1000 because they priced it 50% off the $1900.

But after watching some videos I realize it’s actually a pre-2025 model has the older casters and smaller rear infrared.

I haven’t picked it up yet and kind of feel like I can just go get a used one for less money since it’s not the 2025.

I will know it was advertised as the newer 2025

Just curious to get your opinions.

Update 1:

It seems the consensus is I should just keep it since it’s still a great deal. I may try to go in and see if they’ll do another mark down on it. Only reason being it was advertised as the newer 2025 one and this store doesn’t like sitting on merchandise were too long because I get a ton of it they gotta cycle .

Update 2:

I picked it up and plan on keeping it thanks for the insight!

If anyone wants to see side by side Half moon and El Capitan

My SC got a few R2s in and they had a Half Moon and El Captain next to each other .

Half Moon is darker and El Captian has a bit more sparkle in it . I would say Half Moon is more true to being grey .

It was overcast but it’s hard to tell the difference without really looking .

Was starting my morning commute and I went to the Vehicle info section and I noticed my motor temps were crazy high for just five minutes into the trip. Stopped at a charger since I was at 27% and they started to creep down. Did a harder reset charge the vehicle and started driving and temps are normal.

I’ve got a maintenance service appointment on Thursday so I’ll have them look into it but kinda bug to have .

Update 1 :

Just to clarify Rivian is calling it a thermal event .

Update 2 :

General consensus is motors, heated up that high due to battery preconditioning. It’s still going to the service center for general maintenance and other items on my list.
