City Guide: Aquarium de la Porte Dorée, Paris
Whilst the Aquarium de Paris is the best known in the city, as it is one of the oldest in the world, I find that it has its shortcomings. The admission price is very off-putting (€20 for 3 to 12-year-olds and €28 for those aged 13 and over).
I really like it, and I’ll write another post about this aquarium because I think that if you can afford it and you love jellyfish, the jellyfish area is incredible.
But the Aquarium Tropical de la Porte Dorée in the 12th arrondissement is a very good alternative, at a full price of 12e.
The building itself is incredibly interesting from a historical perspective – it was built for the 1931 World’s Fair – and you can combine your visit with the Museum of Immigration, which I think is brilliant.
Even though the aquarium isn’t huge, there are quite a few lovely species to admire, and it’s a really cool place to visit with children.
