Who’s made the switch from Studio One?

I’ve been using studio one for PC for long enough now here I’m really used to it. I’m considering making the switch to Mac for music production and I was thinking I might make the jump to Logic Pro too. I know I can run Studio One on Mac too but I want to hear from people who have made the switch over to Logic (or maybe went the other way) and how you think the two DAWs compare?

In my case, I am almost exclusively hardware for recording and then software for mixing and mastering. I run 5 synths at once and a drum machine, then I process everything and master with plugins. How’s the workflow? Is it great for really tight MIDI tempo/automation running to several synths? Thank you!

What’s the best retro metal guitar synth/sampler?

When I’m not making my own stuff, I like to make some video game music covers. One of the games I’m looking at covering some songs from right now is F-Zero X for N64. It has such an awesome soundtrack. I love the retro video-gamey sounding metal guitar sounds from this game. Most of the time when working on these types of things, I record all the instrument parts with synths but for these particular covers, I want to incorporate some of those OG metal guitar sample type sounds in there. Right now I use a JD-800 for that type of sound in a lead context but I’ve never really got it to chug quite like a palm muted guitar (which is frequently used in these tracks). I know they used samples for the guitars in F-Zero and I’m wondering if there are any known or obscure synths/sampler hardware or software that have a feature/sound set focused around making those kinds of sounds. Thanks everybody!

I have been thinking of what I should get for live performances as I am not comfortable taking any of my studio synths outside. I want to hear from those of you that have experience with the Roland Axe Edge. How is using it? What do you like about it? Do you recommend other alternatives? What don’t you like about it? Are the sound expansions from Roland Cloud worth it and are there models available for it such as the JD-800 or Juno synths? Thank you!
