Cane Backed Chairs

Saved these two from bulk trash pickup, with the intention of refurbishing and selling however this is my second solo project. My intention is to sand and stain a dark brown, re-upholster with olive green fabric, and fix (or replace?) cane backing. I'm wondering if this sounds feasible and asking for any tips on technique or product.

Also wondering if these are vintage and if I should just refresh for resale. Seems like real wood as the worn edges have grain peeking through unlike veneer, but the only label I found on it says Singer and may just be for the seat padding. Thanks in advance!

$450 Electric Bill for 2 people

My roommate and I are in shock and have no idea what's going on. Neither of us work from home, no in unit laundry, AC is kept around 75-76. I checked our meter and the readout for the past 2 weeks is consistent with what PSE&G is telling us, but it makes no sense, 2 of our highest usage days we had a complete power outage from ~8pm-5am. Asked neighbors and they said they suspected it's why the previous tenant moved out so I think it's something structural rather than habits.

We're just at a loss and would really appreciate any advice on where we should look to save money. I know it's been really hot and the apartment has a couple of things working against it for cooling, high ceilings, top (3rd) floor, no adjacent units. I believe the fridge is fairly old and I'm gonna look into cleaning the cooling coils.

Edit: Some relevant info, we live in Northern NJ, so our rates are around 0.27-0.30 cents per kWh (don't have access to the exact number, the account is under my roommate). We've lived here since Mid-April and the electric has been high, a previous bill was ~380.

Edit 2: We called and the agent agreed that our bill looked weird, our downstairs neighbor pays about 3x less for a family of 4+ and larger apartment. We got a freeze and somebody will come by to investigate within the next 2 wks.

Stretching Uneven Lobes

The unevenness never bothered me but worried my left lobe isn't centered enough to stretch safely. Couldn't imagine going past 12 mm, think I could make it?

Sold a Vehicle on FB without signing the Title

I know I fucked up, first time selling a car and the guy insisted on not signing it and that he never signs titles over anymore and I just believed him. I have the plates but didn't sign anything on the title that I handed over. What do I do now?

Test came back negative for both HSV1/2 but I know I have 1?

I know I have oral and GHSV1 (2 years ago breakout swab came back positive but not for HSV2). Had an encounter just over 12 wks ago with someone who later got a positive HSV2 result on a blood test. My immediate test had pos HSV1 and negative HSV2 result and I retested this week, but the newest test came back negative for both. Can I trust the HSV2 result if I know the HSV1 result is wrong? I take Valocyclovir daily, could that affect results?

I have messaged my doctor and will be getting professional advice but any insight in the meantime would ease my worries.

How should I dye it?

Never dyed my hair except for box black 2 yrs ago which I rlly liked. Wanna do a really bold color with black since my job won't let me get piercings but I'm really indecisive. Bouncing btwn a green ghost roots Billie eilish style or an underside color which would pop when I'm lazy and pile my hair up like the third pic. Thing is I love manic panic electric lizard type green but I go back and forth on whether or not it would actually suit me as I usually stick to and wear black/jewel tones but hate yellows/warm tones.

Prepping for a lapse

Hi all,

I sent my renewal March 23 with an expiry on July 9 and my company knows it. I was pushing it on the timeline, I know, but there's not a lot of DACA from my country and I've always gotten it pretty quickly, hell my sister got approved within a month.

So the question is, what do y'all do during a lapse? I wanna say this is the time to invest in myself but given I literally can't make money I'm worried I'll just dig myself into a bigger hole. I've toyed with the idea of taking my sewing/crafting hobbies into something marketable and build up an inventory without selling til I've got the EAD, but who knows if that would work out. I also have no idea if my job will still be there by the time I'm approved, not that it was all that great but it paid the bills. Maybe I try to do some professional development so the gap isn't as glaring on a resume, but given I'm trying to work in a lab setting idk how accessible training/courses/etc would be. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: And of course I would never work and earn money during the lapse, and nobody in the replies would imply that they do otherwise. Maybe just what stuff that you would LEARN how to do during a lapse so you can START working once your EAD is approved.
