What do you think the "secret sauce" to TES lore is?

I've never engaged in a fictional world's lore in the same way that I do to the Elder Scrolls. Something about it makes me want to learn everything I can. Why do you think this is?

Pankratosword

Hey I'm playing through the game right now, I'm going for a redguard Swordmaster build (how original) and I'd like to get the Pankratosword. Unfortunately the wiki is still being made so there's no guide for the questline. Anyone willing to give info?
