(Ignore my hand, I haven’t figured out how i will attach her to the base yet)
Just recently got myself a 3D printer (Bambu A1), and printed + painted some armiger heads I modeled. Not quite resin level but I am beyond pleased at how they turned out. They definitely look much better in person than on camera. Let me know what you guys think!
The Exodites reveal has reignited my interested in the Eldar. The wraith constructs have long been one of my favorite units. While thinking of a way to incorporate the dinosaur aesthetic with a wraith focused army, I came up with the idea of spirit stones made of amber that hold fossilized remains of ancient Eldar society. The armor of the wraiths themselves would also be made out of bone and fossils. I thought it was a really neat idea and I would love to build up an army around this one day.
I'm definitely considering kit bashing a squad to act as men-at-arms for my knight army. I'm leaning towards voidsmen-at-arms or a subductor squad, as far as looks go. But how are each of our allied units looking to perform in 11th? Is Immolator + Sisters Squad still one of the best options?
Finally finished up the Castellan from my Eye of Terror box. She will make a great centerpiece to my army. Especially with how the Castellan is shaping up in 11th, I'm very eager to get her on the battlefield. I used a sponge to get the gradients on all of the armor pieces, and a some precise masking work for the heraldry. This was a huge level up in quality for me. Of course there are still plenty of little details I would like to touch up on, and some freehand work that I'm not quite confidant enough for yet, but after putting on some decals I think its were it will stay for a while.
This knight suit is piloted by the noble Madam Palmahla. Madam Palmahla is no stranger to the battlefield. She lays waste to the enemies of House Banderron from the mighty Knight Castellan, Earthshaker. There is no armor that cannot be pierced by her volcano lance, and no foe who can withstand the great power of her plasma decimator. Madam Palmahla has bravely piloted this beast of a machine for decades, and often feels as though she is more at home towering over the battlefield, sat upon her throne mechanicum, than walking on her own two feet. Outside of battle, Palmahla acts as one of the Queen's closest advisors, and a member of the grand defense council, ensuring that no enemy will ever breach the walls of House Banderron's most sacred keep.
I think its a bit of a bummer that armigers don't get the knightly helmets like the bigger knights do, so I decided to make my own! Sallet helms have always been my favorites, so I threw this together in blender for my armigers. Now I just need to get my hands on a 3D printer...
As my first knights, and some of my first ever painted minis, near completion, I wanted to see what you all think of it, and what I could do to improve. I still need to paint some small details, and add decals. I also plan on printing out some custom helmets I designed, once I get my hands on a 3D printer.
I tried out a stippling technique to add some depth to the panels. Im not entirely sure if I’m sold on it yet compared to a flat base coat w/ edge highlights. I also feel like it clashes with the flat metallic silver bits, maybe i find a way to add shade and highlights to them aswell?
I’ve been doing some practice pieces for my armiger, and free-handing the checkerboard is not gonna cut it for me. Does anybody have tips for masking or to make checkerboard easier?
