What’s the game that keeps your PS4 plugged in?

Hey all,

Very quick background: I grew up on PlayStation as a kid and teenager, but disconnected from the brand almost altogether from the PS4 generation onwards. I’ve not owned a PS5 (nor do I plan to until that generation is end of life) and most of my gaming happens now on a PC handheld, or a retro handheld console via emulation.

That said - I’ve always loved PlayStation games - just not their business practices. With the recent physical disc announcement, I’m hunting down a PS4 Pro console and wanting to build a nice physical library of PS4 exclusives.

Would love some general collecting tips given we are well past the consoles’ official life - and some exclusives you love that are must-play games.

Thanks heaps, looking forward to chiming in in this community a bit more! Happy Gaming from Australia.

Uh.. how GOOD is this game!

Game title: The Addams Family (Super Nintendo)
Device: TrimUI Brick

As someone who grew up just *after* The Addams Family was a hit, the series and movies was one of those things I’d see occasionally in passing, but never really got familiar with.

I started reading ‘The SNES Omnibus’ by Brett Weiss (pictured) - and saw a pretty positive write up for it. I absolutely love ‘catalogue’ style books like this on our hobby.

I’ve played a fair bit of Super Nintendo over the years, but never even considered popping this game on. The screenshots looked cool, so I thought ‘hey, let’s just boot it up.’.

Imagine my surprise when the game absolutely hooked me. I genuinely can’t believe how competent of an action platformer this is.

I believe it was UK developed (Ocean) and it is absolutely giving me ‘Dizzy’ vibes (I’m an Aussie but I went down the rabbit hole of UK developed platformers many years ago!)

The positives:
- This is a great looking SNES game. Wonderful art, super distinct level design, and enemies themed to each room or zone you’re in.

- Open ended, ‘explore at your peril’ platformer - the only goal is to save each family member (which is done by entering a part of the mansion, traversing the rooms, and beating the boss) - the order in which this can be done is completely up to you.

The negatives:
- A bit slidy in terms of platforming, but I was comfortable with it after about an hour of play.

Highly recommend giving it a go if you’re looking for something akin to Super Mario World, with a bit more exploration. The game is just pure silliness and fun, and I’m going to see this through to the end! Happy gaming 🙂

Fellow Brickers… RG Rotate thoughts?

Curious to know if the Rotate replaces the Brick for you, or if you’re considering it.

I was considering it at first (as someone who really wants an Android, mini vertical) but I think I’m going to pass. I ideally want a pocketable Android clamshell with a great screen, and I don’t think that’s coming soon (or unless Trimui play the clamshell game).

Recently upgraded from my Steam Deck LCD to the Claw A8 here in Australia, after having it recommended from one of our local PC handheld groups. I hadn’t followed MSI since the whole early Intel model/dead on arrival - but boy oh boy has this handheld blown me away.

Screen is beautiful, controls are really really good (dpad isn’t amazing but still solid), and just an overall fantastic build quality and attention to detail. I love the grip textures on the triggers and bumpers, I love the LED shining through on the face buttons, and that neon green.. absolutely love it.

I’m rolling with Windows 11 and plan to long term, with a boot into Xbox FSE. I love my Deck LCD, but I did miss Game Pass and an ‘Xbox’ experience, so I’m keen to get stuck into that now.

A very worthy upgrade, and I was lucky enough to get a great deal on it ($1330 Aus Dollars).

A8 owners: as a side note, a few things I’m a bit confused on (FPS monitor stops working if I try to use it after hibernation, FPS limiter flat out doesn’t work for me). Any solutions to those issues?

Anyway - super happy to join this community. Hopefully you see me around the place on here! Happy gaming everyone.
