Has online dating dropped off?

29F. Downloaded Hinge for the first time 2 weeks ago. This is my first experience in general with dating apps. I figured it's impossible to meet people in real life, since apparently everyone is using apps now, so....

And yet, no one seems interested in actually meeting. Maybe it's because everyone is so saturated for choice that it's no longer a "big deal" to schedule a date with someone?

Of the 6 dates that I've managed to schedule.....

  1. Messaged 1 hour before the date that he changed his mind.
  2. Ghosted on the day when I wrote to confirm the time.
  3. Ghosted on the day when I wrote to confirm the time....
  4. Wrote that I was "emasculating" him when I suggested a venue.
  5. Confirmed that he was "20 minutes away" and then never showed up, messaged 40 minutes later to retroactively cancel.
  6. Agreed to meet at a bar, then when I messaged saying I was on my way, suddenly said that he had a delivery coming (at 8pm?) and "let's just hang at my place and watch a movie." Yeah, no.

Honestly, I don't know if it's the cultural where I live (I just moved to a new city), or maybe this is a younger woman's game, or maybe online dating in general has lost its cultural relevance.

Anyone else have similar experiences in the past few months? Are we back to meeting people in real life now?

At what point is it too last minute to confirm a date?

I’ve noticed that people tend to be super flakey when it comes to confirming plans - probably because they’re waiting to see if anything better turns up first.

Example: Messaging a guy for a few days, we decide to meet on Saturday but don’t specify a time or place or activity. He messaged yesterday afternoon saying he’d “find something for us to do.” I replied suggesting either dinner or drinks, and listed 3 suggestions for dinner and 3 suggestions for drinks (each location with a different vibe / budget, so he could choose whatever he felt comfortable with).

Now it’s past noon on Saturday and I haven’t heard anything from him. Like I said, we don’t even have a time or general location agreed on. I’m already feeling like if he gets back to me this afternoon, I’ll just pass on the date at this point. But maybe I’m being too harsh?

Edit: just to clarify, I followed up with the dinner / drinks suggestion last night when I still hadn’t heard anything from him about what we should do today.

Lost / stolen wallet

I've filed reports with the police and on the lost item portal, but I figured I've got nothing to lose by also asking reddit...

I was carrying my wallet in my purse all day and until fairly late at night this past Friday. We were mainly in the 1st arr. in the Le Marais and Pont Neuf area. I only noticed that my wallet was missing the following morning. I used Apple Pay to pay for everything throughout the day / evening, so I can't even think of a time when I'd need to take my wallet out. So, I guess either someone took it out of my purse, or I managed to drop it when taking out my sunglasses or mobile at some point.

Either way, if anyone happened to find a light brown leather wallet, please please please let me know. The wallet itself has more sentimental value than anything inside.

In case you found a wallet which might be it, please DM me and I can confirm the specifics. Among other things, it contained my identity card, bank cards, health insurance card, social security card, a bunch of loyalty cards, and some cash.
