I don't really understand the end of the game yet

Hello! I'm new to weiqi but having a lot of fun with it so far. However, I'm not super confident yet that I have a handle on how the end of a game goes. Am I right in remembering that the game only ends when no legal moves remain or both players pass? Doesn't that mean that both players must "agree," so to speak, to end the game, and if so, why would anyone pass when they're losing? When, strategically, should you pass? Thanks!

Hi all. I'm not aromantic but I'm pretty close to it, I just label myself as grayromantic or arospec; in any case I've felt romantic feelings before but it's been rare and weak. I'm also kind of a people-pleaser and find it hard to say no to offers or requests or anything. It's not that I can't stand up for myself, it's just difficult to reject people, kinda.

In any case, recently, someone I know asked me out. I'd say they and I were friends before, we talked somewhat regularly and I liked their company. In any case, I was like, well, I've been able to feel romance before, why not give it a shot, so I said yes. I did also attach a sort of disclaimer like "jsyk im confused abt my romanticity and want to make sure you know that so i dont lead you on" but idk. In any case we've been on two dates since then and it's become kind of clear to me that, whether I can feel romance or not (it has been a good while), the two of us are just friends in my mind. But I have no idea how to communicate that. I was thinking I should do it in person rather than over text, but I didn't have the courage; the thing is they're such a nice person and a good friend who i dont want to hurt. How do I do it? Is there a good way?
