Last year my sister Lauren died after a long battle with cancer. She left behind an adult son and an adult daughter.

About twenty years ago, when Lauren had a young daughter, she met a man who we'll call Damian. Damian was about fifteen years older than Lauren, who was about 20 at the time. About a year later they had a son together.

Lauren and Damian had a huge argument shortly after, and Damian decided that they were both going to move to another country. For the next 10 years after that, any time we tried to phone them Damian would answer, and tell us to fuck off. Lauren couldn't drive and they lived in the middle of nowhere so she was essentially cut off from her family and friends as well as the rest of society.

One day my parents got a call from Lauren who had been arrested after her and Damian had a fight. She said that he'd been abusing her physically and emotionally for years and she finally fought back and threw a bottle at him. He played the victim to the police and she didn't have a mark on her so she was arrested.

Following a court case where Damian blew up and started swearing at the judge, the case was thrown out and Damian was thrown out of the court. Lauren eventually got custody of both of the children after living in and out of women's shelters.

Once Damian was out of the picture, and a few years had passed, my niece said that Damian used to hit Lauren all the time, and that he used to come into her room at night and abuse her too. I'll spare the details because they're pretty chilling but even the mention of him gives my niece a panic attack. Neither her nor my nephew have any contact with Damian any more.

Like I said, last year Lauren died from cancer. She wasn't that old so it was a shock to everybody. It's been just over a year and we're only just starting to process it properly.

In her memory, my family decided to throw a fundraiser for her. My parents own a field so we set up a fair there with food stalls, games, competitors, raffles, that kind of stuff. My sister was well known in our area before she moved away so tons of people pitched in and altogether we raised over £10000 for cancer research. The whole day was amazing until Damian showed up.

I told him that he wasn't welcome here and that he should leave quietly. He said he has every right to be there and he just wanted to show his support. My Dad joined me and told Damien less politely to leave. It turned into a big fight between my Dad, uncles and Damian but eventually he left.

My nephew told me afterwards that he just wanted to make some donations and have some fun, but I told him that after everything he did he's not welcome anywhere near the family. My nephew now thinks I massively overreacted and if I'd let him stay there wouldn't have been any trouble. Did I overreact here?

Hello! My partner and I got into magic together about seven years ago.

We originally bought the game night decks and they were fun but felt a bit generic. We bought some precon Izzet and Golgari decks which we really liked but then we ended up buying singles to upgrade them and it turned into an arms race. We bought a few commander precons but didn't have much fun in two player.

I then built ten 60 card decks that were loosely set constructed around Guilds of Ravnica and Ravnica Allegiance. They were very fun but did get stale after a while.

That's until I decided to just build some more casual 40 card decks. I started with Bloomburrow and built some mini decks that had 2 copies of each card (except lands). They all had really fun gameplay that was consistent but nothing was too OP. We did the same thing again with Edge of Eternities and again now with Secrets of Strixhaven.

When there's just two of us playing casually it's a really great way to get variety and new things to try without breaking the bank. The decks actually kind of build themselves and them being 40 cards instead of 60 cards saves a lot of money. I also avoid a lot of the more expensive cards and it doesn't seem to make that much of a difference.
