Is there a way to have 2 preferred audio languages?

I mainly watch anime on kodi but also a lot of movies. A lot of the movies I watch have italian or russion audio tracks marked as default, so if i change default settings in the language menu to english my anime would also be in english. Could i have Japenese to be the preferred language but English to be the second preferred language?

what happened to the mighty tyrants painted in orange?

They responded (like animals) when Rahul called out religious extremists and people against the scientific process. How does this not get any media coverage?? either they accept their anti science stance or their comprehension is terrible and they don't even understand who is being referred to. such monkeys running our country. the bjp was good opposition, nothing more.

Daemons of the Shadow Realm is.. good?

https://reddit.com/link/1v8s6yr/video/e2bb3r9vgxfh1/player

I'm fairly certain the entire fandom had high expectations for the show considering it's an Arakawa adaptation, and that's what held the first few episodes back, imo (the fact that it was produced by Bones wasn't helping either).

DOTSR is at its core a simple battle shonen with a fairly interesting power system. With those constraints in mind, the show isn't bad at all. The characters are unique and interesting, and Bones makes every scene fluid, almost like a better Sakamoto Days.

What holds it back is the "X" factor that FMAB and a lot of other brilliant shonen adaptations have: the punch. I could try to describe what it is, but it's something that's better felt. The easiest way to put it is that the anime isn't stylistic enough. It just falls a little flat.

I'm probably a little spoiled by fujimotos amazing work with chainsaw man and MAPPA carrying JJK. I don't think DOTSR really fits in the new gen lineup

Why is Chainsmoker Cat special?

This is a bit of a long read, which is why I prepared a clip for y’all as a present.

Yanineko is a show that, at first, is a crass slapstick comedy like many others. Panty & Stocking immediately comes to mind. What you don’t realise, though, is that the show is a social commentary in the garb of palatable (intellectually, not literally) comedy.

It’s no secret that Japanese society isn’t perfect, but like India, people that call it out are looked down upon. Yanineko gets around that by concealing these topics until you think about them subconsciously.

The show follows a cat girl, they’re known as beastfolk, treated as sub human (issue 1), who has a crippling cigarette addiction (issue 2), but cannot find a good job (issue 3) and lives in filthy conditions (issue 4). She is also constantly sexualised by children and old people alike (maybe issue 5).
This simple show with farts and drugs and puke is able to dismantle society’s deepest secrets. The last time a show did this was NHK, but back then media literacy was high, so it didn’t need to be funny.
Chainsmoker Cat is taking us back to when anime was more than just empty entertainment, and I’m all for it.

Here’s the clip, you’re welcome ;)

Why Link Click and donghua in general is good for the japenese anime industry

Before I answer the question I raised myself, I'd like to talk about Link Click itself. HOLY FUCK is it good. At its core, Link Click is a simple (I say that in comparison to shows like Steins Gate) time travel thriller that explores the human condition (through small mini arcs) more than any sense of justice or clear plot direction until the end of season 1. This long exposition is what seems to be the catalyst to the first significant arc, but I'd like to focus on the mini arcs themselves instead. While the Japanese animation industry is far more experienced than the Chinese, when's the last time you could say that you've seen an exposition this long without some wacky shit happening every 2 minutes to keep your attention? The only example I can think of is Clannad, and that was released in 2007.

This stark difference exists because of 3 fundamental reasons.

  1. The simplest: industry pressure. Kodansha admitted that they publish isekai works because they know that it sells; the manga and anime industry is extremely saturated.
  2. The way most anime come to fruition: manga. Most popular shonen manga are released weekly, which means that, apart from a general plot direction, mangakas often struggle to keep up and work on perfecting their work despite having a lot of skill, leading to reduced quality overall. Remember, garbage in garbage out.
  3. Donghua, the more popular ones at least, are ONAs (apart from LOTM). This means that they're stripped from the limitations of other mediums. The easiest way to understand the significance of this is to remember the excessive internal monologues you tend to hear in LN adaptations.

How is Donghua helping, then? In theory, China has the capacity to pump out more work every season than Japan with enough funding. In response, Japan is forced to adapt and push more experimental work and bring back an emphasis on ONAs. The last good ONA we got was Apocalypse Hotel, which you can tell was MADE to be displayed on the big screen.

Since you read through all of that, I want to bless your ears with the best ED of all time, ripped from the Link Click bluray. You're welcome.

Do any of you like grey souls processed coffee’s?

I don’t get it tbh. Their latest offering, pink lemonade apparently tastes terrible until atleast 3 weeks. three weeks in it still tastes terrible, but regardless if you keep resting coffee for weeks the beans themselves are going to taste cardboardy because it’s an ultra light roast after. but even ignoring all of that the logic doesn’t add up. you want to go pretty fine when you brew ultra lights, but you want to go course when the coffee is processed heavily to avoid excess funky flavours that are unpalatable. i’m not trying to be a hater, has anyone got a good cup from it? what did you do

Competitive scene moving forward

Hey guys, as you all know beyblade X is going to officially release in the country soon and hopefully that means really good availability and catching up across releases. do you think this would positively impact the competitive scene in this country? i know the bangalore scene (im from here) is fairly large but there aren't many tournaments that are higher budget and have a lot of people.

Chinese Booster Boxes

After a lot of fucking around and finding out on alibaba i found a proper chinese vendor for official chinese product (not on alibaba ofc 😭). i can source any new set for around 4000 a piece shipped to me, i’m getting the new stellar crystal and gem box volume 5.
what have your experiences with chinese product been like? i collect pokemon almost solely for the art and so switching to simplified chinese atleast temporarily isn’t a big deal for me.

note: i’m not a seller. please be careful when sourcing boxes from china, there are entire factories just made for resealing.

An excerpt from my TOK textbook

I’m so happy I do the IB (even though it’s insanely rigorous). Anyway, what do you make of this? I think it’s a perfectly apt way to look at religious arguments

Mogra Recipe

Since a lot of people on this sub get the Mogra, I thought I'd share my recipe after dialing it in and trying various pourover methods.

The main difficulty in making the Mogra a phenomenal pourover is balancing (more like cutting) its acidity. The acidity is very prevalent in my recipe too, but it's more than drinkable.

I used the Tetsuya 4:6 method to cut this acidity and highlight the sweetness of the cup.

Using the Timemore C2S, I settled on 20 clicks. You want to grind it decently fine (slightly coarser than the Hoffmann method) to ensure you get more than just the acidity.

Follow the Tetsuya method like normal. The only difference is the first pour (bloom) should have between 35-40g of water (for a 250ml cup, so 17g of coffee), after which your second pour (after 45 seconds) should make the cumulative water weight 100g. After that, pour 50ml at 45-second intervals until you hit 250ml. The cup should be extracted at around 3:35.

Use this as a starting point, or just try it out and see how you like it. Cheers.

▲ 23 r/tea

I normally get my darjeeling from makaibari and while the tea is delicious it isn’t nearly as sweet as this cup from the Arya estate. it hits you with muskmelon (those were on the tasting notes and are VERY prevalent) and later has just a hint of cream. i don’t know if this is a black tea thing (my other darjeelings are all oolongs), an arya estate thing or just something special about this year but it’s delicious
