Which unit should get slugskin?

So I have 6 chaos trolls from a lot I bought recently and I'd like to run them in a list. Even only for the memes. Problem is, they seem really useless. Stupidity with abismal leadership and whatever you'd want them to achieve on the tabletop, dragon ogres and minotaurs (maybe even chaos ogres) do better.

Am I missing something? Is there a combo that would make their performance acceptable?

I'm looking to kitbash a warband for mordheim from the new chorf range. Do you know of any kits that could help with weapon variety? Bonus points if it invokes the classic look!

Would it be appropriate for a champion of Nurgle to wear the eight-pointed chaos star, or is it specifically an undivided symbol?
