Notable things from this. Gaps during the spring DWPs festival time and a gap during the Louder than Life time frame, though that LTL time frame is a couple weeks out from start of an Australian leg of the tour. No dates in Louisville and closest proximity to Louisville on tour are in February. Though probably not at all DWPs since they have a leg of the tour in Columbus so that rules out Sonic Temple, and they’d be in Australia for Aftershock.

A definite possibility, nothing that hard rules them out but nothing that definitely confirms.

Had considered them as a longshot legacy name who may be at Louder, but since they have a headlining arena tour announced that has a stop in Louisville, can safely rule them out.

After initial projections from last week looking like we might just catch a break for Louder weather, the latest forecasts are showing that unfortunately it's shaping up to be another scorcher of a year. Lots of sun, lots of heat, minimal wind and cloud coverage. Which means everyone should be prepared as much to beat the heat.

So some tips for people coming in:

1. DRINK WATER. Seriously, the number one most important thing is don't just be chugging alcohol or sugary drinks or whatever all day. Drink water, and if you think you've drank enough water, drink more water. We don't want to see people passing out due to dehydration.
2. Bring electrolyte packets to mix with water. Go to Walmart or Kroger or wherever, get a pack of Liquid IVs or Body Armors or whatever your preferred brand is, and pack a few packets in your pockets. While you should be drinking water, as you sweat a lot during the day replenishing your body also is useful. These can give you that good bolt of sodium and such to get you through the day.
3. Freeze a bottle, chill a bottle. In your bag bring in a frozen bottle of water wrapped in a towel or something alongside one that's chilled. That way as the day goes on you can have still cool water, as the water stations are normally at best moderately chilled and often lukewarm.
4. Wear your sunscreen. You're going to be in the middle of some parking lots on asphalt with minimal shade. Wear sunscreen, especially early in the week, as if you scorch on Thursday it'll make the rest of the weekend all the more painful.
5. Big Hats and Neck Gaiters. Even if you have sunscreen, one of the most forgotten places you can get burned is the back of your neck. Big Hats and Neck Gaiters can protect that area and help you stay cool. Bonus with neck gaiter, you can freeze it before hand or wrap it around your frozen water bottle, and it helps stay cool for a little bit.
6. Know where to go to cool off. The main merch area is inside and hopefully the secondary merch area is inside Broadbent Arena. Kentucky Kingdom will be open and will have some places that are inside (plus will have places to get admittedly lukewarm water and actual bathrooms). Kentucky Kingdom also has more shade overall. There are the Big Bourbon and Jack Daniels tents. Wherever you can, steal some shade.
7. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Don't get there at noon and expend all your energy right out the gate. Especially with how hot it is, you're going to burn yourself out and make yourself miserable if you go 60 straight minutes of hardcore dancing in a pit at the start. Know when to pit, when to hydrate, when to take a step back and go chill for a bit.

And finally

8. DRINK WATER. Seriously, just drink it. There are water stations throughout. You can bring bottle of water in. Don't be that guy who has slammed 4 cocktails, no food, no water, and it's not even 3 PM and you're looking at them going "are they swaying to the song or about to throw up and pass out". Hydrate hydrate hydrate.

Hopefully the Louisville weather gods bless us and the heat wave either dissipates early or we get a break and it's not as hot as projected or we get some rain to help it cool down. But in case it is as hot as projected, be ready, be prepared, be safe, and have fun.

Also of interesting note, Pretty Reckless went from playing at same time as MCR to playing earlier, and all the bands on that same stage got moved earlier too. So according to the schedule, The Warning now are playing from 6:30-7:15 for example.

Knocked Loose also appear to be playing on the Loudmouth stage as opposed to the Impact stage some speculated about, so there will be more room at least.

For those wanting to know where the noodle rush is, Zone 2.

Other important note, looks like they have more water stations this time, which will be nice to be able to get to water quicker.

My biggest question looking at it is around the bathrooms, currently there's only two ones I can see two main zones in the festival grounds, one set at the camping entrance, and one that may or may not be VIP but either way is a smaller one. Wonder if with Broadbent and the Expo center area being available for Merchandise if they're banking in those as spots for bathrooms as well.

And for those hoping for more shade, sadly looks like there's only the one shade structure by the main stages. Was hoping they might add one by the Decibel/Reverb stages.

Sharing an event for a local food charity, this Saturday is going to be their first Trivia Night event and are still looking for players. Currently tickets are able to be purchased ahead through Venmo donation, but will also be available on night of the event at the door.

The food pantry primarily serves Southern Indiana and Louisville, and is based around volunteers picking up and delivering bags of non-perishables to families who can request a delivery monthly. Since it's all volunteer based, all funds raised will go towards helping feed kids.

Served 39 Years as Louisville SID, for last two years was at St. Johns as a Special Advisor to Rick Pitino.
